As a long-time fan of Gavin & Stacey, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the upcoming Christmas Day special. I’ve been following this show since its inception, and Uncle Bryn has always been one of my favorite characters due to Rob Brydon’s brilliant portrayal.
Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon has addressed a devastating theory about Uncle Bryn.
After a five-year hiatus, the beloved TV series is coming back for a special Christmas Day broadcast in 2024, which will serve as its last and final episode.
Earlier, while discussing the upcoming special with The Mirror, James Corden hinted: “Today, we were working on a scene from Bryn’s funeral that was quite touching and emotional. But don’t worry, I was just kidding… or was I?
Though it appeared playful, Corden’s remarks have sparked worry among fans regarding the future of their cherished character – and Brydon hasn’t provided much reassurance on the matter.

In a recent interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio, Brydon was inquired about when Bryn’s character meets his end in the given episode.
“There’s the explosion, first of all, obviously, and for a while, it’s touch and go,” he laughed.
Indeed, is there any news on Bryn’s wellbeing? There had been whispers suggesting that Bryn might have passed away… However, I regret to inform you that I cannot verify or refute such claims.
Later on, Evans proposed the idea that perhaps creators James Corden and Ruth Jones managed to accomplish this secretly during editing, unbeknownst to him. To which Brydon reacted: “That would require one amazing edit indeed!

Currently, it’s being proposed by Jones that the upcoming special may deviate slightly from fan expectations.
She shared with The Big Issue, “I’ve been saying that the ending may not align with your expectations.” She also added emphatically, “We won’t be returning for sure.
Additionally, Corden commented, “On Christmas Day, viewers will witness the climax of a 20-year romantic saga. It’s our hope that this portrayal, in some way, underscores the intricacy and chaos that often characterize love, making it relatable to all.
You can currently stream seasons 1-3 of the popular series “Gavin & Stacey” on BBC iPlayer. Additionally, mark your calendars for this Christmas as the much-anticipated 2024 “Gavin & Stacey” Christmas special will be airing at 9 PM on Christmas Day, available both on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
