Gavin And Stacey’s James Corden and Mathew Horne are the best of friends as they wave at fans while arriving on set after squashing feud rumours
As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for celebrity dynamics and a rich background in Hollywood, I must say that the reunion of James Corden and Mathew Horne feels like a breath of fresh air. Their camaraderie on the set of Gavin and Stacey reminds me of the good old days when these two were the toast of British television.
On Tuesday, James Corden and Mathew Horne looked like old pals as they strolled onto the Gavin And Stacey set together.
The pair, seemingly unfazed by speculation about their disagreements, seemed cheerful as they headed to the filming site in Wales.
Pictures showed the pair in their iconic characters, Gavin and Smithy, as they gave waiting fans a wave and said ‘hello’.
James put on a navy-blue zip-up jacket from Tommy Hilfiger, and Mat chose a dark-green Fred Perry shirt along with a long, black coat for himself.
Nearly all members of the cast were present during filming sessions, as the location standing in for Pam and Mick’s Essex residence was utilized.
James and Matthew seldom appear together in scenes since the suspenseful final episode of their hit sitcom.
The most recent occasion they collaborated was back in 2019, during which they aired a special episode on Christmas Day for the show.
After the conclusion of their well-known series, there were whispers of growing tension between the duo, leading some to speculate they might be involved in a disagreement.
As James experienced triumph on the West End with One Man, Two Guvnors before transitioning to host the Late Late Show in America starting from 2015, Mat continued his work on various television productions in the UK.
Speculation on their friendship continued to grow as many fans feared they had fallen out.
In 2011, during an interview with Piers Morgan on his show “Life Stories,” James openly talked about their past relationship. He confessed that their bond had grown distant over time, yet he emphasized that there wasn’t any major argument or dramatic breakup that ended things between them.
As James was asked whether he kept up with Mat, he replied: ‘Err, we talk occasionally, yeah.’
Afterward, it came to light that Mat had been invited to join the program, yet he decided against it. Stammering slightly, James responded: ‘I hadn’t realized that, but it makes sense to me now.’
Affirming there was no falling-out, he acknowledged instead their long-standing unity: “We remained as one entity for quite some time. If I could change something, it would be that we moved too swiftly with those events.
‘We did our own sketch show but the reaction was fierce. It was hard to go through that. We were riding this amazing wave and then it just dropped. In one year we spent 263 days together and we went from that to nothing.’
In 2019, James and Mat got together again during the Gavin And Stacey Christmas special, effectively putting an end to any speculation about their disagreement.
At the launch event when TopMob questioned me about the supposed feud, I firmly stated that the allegations were completely fabricated from scratch, devoid of any underlying hostility.
In response to queries about past rumors of a disagreement, I affirmatively stated that those allegations were fabricated during my recent reunion with the entire cast, with the exception of James, at the press conference.
Despite repeatedly denying any rift, the duo has come together yet again for the last installment of their sitcom, which will broadcast on television this Christmas season.
