Gavin and Stacey star shares details of “last scene” ever for BBC show
As a gamer who has spent countless hours binge-watching TV shows, I can confidently say that the anticipation for the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special is akin to reaching the final boss level in an epic RPG. The show’s original run was like a much-needed power-up, making my days brighter with its witty humor and endearing characters.
Actor Steffan Rhodri, renowned for his role in Gavin and Stacey, has hinted at some intriguing aspects of the final scene – a development that might necessitate a box of tissues for viewers.
This upcoming holiday season, the last episode of the series will be broadcasted on Christmas Day, causing much anticipation about how the story will conclude.
In a recent chat, Rhodri, the actor portraying Dave Coaches on the sitcom, hinted at an emotional climax without revealing specific details, but alluded to a moving finale scene instead.
In his conversation with Metro, he mentioned that his character Dave tends to feel somewhat isolated. However, in the final scene, which serves as the climax, everyone was united, making it a heartwarming and emotional moment for the entire cast.
Additionally, he playfully hinted: “There’s not much I can reveal about the upcoming Christmas special except that I’m part of it. To my surprise, I found it more enjoyable than I initially anticipated.
15 years have passed since I last did it, and now it feels as comfortable as slipping into an old pair of pants. It was truly delightful to spend time with them once more.
Following the initial unveiling of the special earlier this month, it features James Corden, Mathew Horne, Joanna Page, and Ruth Jones reprising their roles as Smithy, Gavin, Stacey, and Nessa respectively.
“A summary was also revealed, detailing the following: Barry finds himself preparing the Picasso for a journey to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are searching for fresh ideas to reinvigorate their seventeen-year-old marriage, while Gwen seems to be acting oddly.
In addition, Nessa launched a fresh entrepreneurial journey, while Neil the Baby is on the verge of starting an apprenticeship under his father’s guidance.
In Billericay, Pam is finding it tough to cope with the role of hostess due to Mick, who recently retired, frequently practicing golf swings inside their living room. Moreover, Pete and Dawn’s relationship has had its fair share of twists and turns. Meanwhile, there’s an intriguing hint about a potential revelation from that recent fishing trip.
Photos from filming suggested that both a wedding and a potential funeral might have been depicted, with Corden adding fuel to the speculation in October by saying, “However, was there a funeral? Perhaps yes. Perhaps no…”. This can be rephrased as: The pictures taken during filming hinted at both a wedding and a possible funeral. In October, Corden raised questions about the funeral, saying it might have happened or not.
Gavin & Stacey series 1-3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas Special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
