As someone who has spent a considerable part of my life immersed in the world of country music, I have always admired Garth Brooks for his unparalleled talent and humble demeanor. However, recent events surrounding the rape accusations against him have left me both troubled and perplexed.
Garth Brooks has denied the rape accusations against him, calling it a ‘hush money’ shakedown.
62-year-old country musician faced accusations of sexual assault and battery this week, as detailed in a court filing made in California by a makeup artist who previously worked with his spouse, Trisha Yearwood.
A couple of months ago, Brooks was relentlessly pressured with threats, falsehoods, and sad stories about his future if he didn’t give away large sums of money. Later on, he made a statement to CNN, saying, “I have been put through immense distress for the past two months.” He went on to address the accusations against him.
‘Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another,’ he added.
‘We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.’
