Garth Brooks breaks social media silence after denying rape and battery accusations
As a seasoned observer of human behavior and a firm believer in justice, I find myself deeply troubled by the ongoing saga involving Garth Brooks, a man I once admired for his music but now question his character. The allegations against him, if true, paint a picture of a man who uses his fame and power to manipulate and harm those around him.
On Friday, Garth Brooks finally spoke up on social media, a short while after he had dismissed allegations of rape and battery that were leveled against him.
On Thursday, a makeup artist who had previously worked for Country Music icon, aged 62, filed a complaint against him in a California state court, alleging misconduct. This makeup artist is connected to the star’s wife, Trisha Yearwood.
After wrapping up my spectacular performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, I took to Instagram to express that I truly needed this experience.
Right now, he’s performing in his ongoing Garth Brooks/Plus ONE residency that will continue through March 2025.
Sharing a photo of the massive gathering, the performer posted: ‘Tonight, more than any other, I felt the need for this energy. A big thank you for being part of my life!! With love, g.’
Just hours prior Garth denied the rape accusations against him, branding it a ‘hush money’ shakedown.
He responded to the accusations in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.’
As a devoted admirer, let me say this: Bribes, regardless of the amount, are always bribes in my book. It’s like saying I’m acknowledging actions that I can’t fathom committing – despicable deeds no person should ever inflict upon another. To put it plainly, I abhor such behavior.
Originally, Garth had refuted the allegations in a lawsuit filed under the alias ‘John Doe’. However, he recently stated: ‘Approximately a month ago, we initiated a lawsuit against this individual to counteract extortion and character defamation. We chose to remain anonymous during the filing process, considering the well-being of families on both sides.’
The musician said the situation ‘has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.’
He added, ‘I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.’
In this scenario, the individual known as ‘Jane Roe’ – who chose to remain anonymous while filing, claims that the well-known country artist took her to Los Angeles for a Grammy tribute honoring the R&B performer Sam Moore, which occurred in May 2019.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges that the musician known for “Friends in Low Places” reserved just one hotel room for the two of them. However, when she requested individual accommodations, he failed to provide it.
In legal papers acquired by DailyMail.com, she alleges that he exposed himself to her at a doorway, forcefully dragged her into a different room, suspended her upside-down by her ankles, and sexually assaulted her.
Prior to the makeup artist’s legal action, Brooks had knowledge of her accusations and chose to respond anonymously, adopting the pseudonym ‘John Doe’, according to CNN’s reports.
Jane Roe initially joined the team in 1999 to take care of Yearwood’s hair and makeup, and later in 2017, Brooks requested her services as well, according to her account.
In her recent legal claim, the makeup artist asserts that Brooks frequently sent her suggestive texts, shared details of his erotic dreams, and engaged in discussions about intimate topics with her.
Apart from the allegations about him, she claims he exposed himself multiple times by showing her his lower backside and private areas. Furthermore, she asserts that he frequently changed his clothes while she was present.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve been following the latest news closely, and it seems that back in 2019, before our fateful LA trip, there were allegations against Brooks. The makeup artist claims he made unwanted advances at his home, and tragically, she asserts that the rape took place during that same timeframe. This is truly heart-wrenching to hear and I’m closely watching for updates on this situation.
According to her assertion, she was sitting at Brooks’ residence, anticipating his arrival so she could do his makeup, when unexpectedly, he stepped out of the shower in the nude and aroused.
She claims that afterwards, he took hold of her hands and compelled them towards his arousal, revealing to her that he had secret desires for her to perform oral sex on him while still wearing her spectacles, ultimately culminating in him reaching orgasm by ejaculating onto her face.
Later that year, during their trip to Los Angeles for Brooks’ performance at the Sam Moore tribute, the makeup artist alleges that he raped her.
In her legal case, ‘Jane Roe’ asserts that they, Jane Roe, and Brooks usually didn’t take trips together without others, but their journey to Los Angeles was a rare exception.
Typically, others would accompany Brooks on his private jet, but this instance was an exception as only Brooks and Ms. Roe were the travelers. Upon their arrival in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe was astonished to find that Brooks had reserved a suite with one bedroom, and she lacked a separate room for herself.
She reportedly voiced her disagreement with the plan and requested a private space, however, she asserted that Brooks was unwilling to compromise on this issue.
In the hotel, according to her claims, he seemingly stood at the entrance of the bedroom, entirely unclothed. She felt herself in a situation where she was isolated in the room with Brooks.
As a devoted supporter recounting events, I’d like to clarify that the individual in question, who is roughly five feet tall, alleges that he forcibly picked her up, holding her upside down, and committed rape against her by this act, specifically penetrating her vaginally.
According to legal documents, the makeup artist claims that Brooks forcefully pushed himself upon her so harshly that she felt like she was about to shatter into pieces.
During the journey, she consistently worked on his grooming (hair and makeup), explaining that it was necessary due to her financial struggles. She also mentioned that Brooks seemed to take advantage of her situation.
She claims that while applying makeup to Brooks, he inappropriately touched her breasts against her instructions, and furthermore, after completing the task, he masturbated.
In her court case, the makeup artist asserts that following the alleged incident of assault, Brooks persistently touched her inappropriately and shared his sexual thoughts with her on a more frequent basis than before.
According to the plaintiff’s allegations, Brooks is said to have frequently discussed the idea of a three-person relationship involving himself, Yearwood, and the makeup artist.
In legal papers, the plaintiff asserted that there was an argument involving her, a person from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and this individual over a May 2020 episode where he discussed with her, Yearwood, and his manager about designing a shampoo bottle that could double as a sex toy.
Brooks appeared noticeably angry when she chose not to respond to the suggestive conversation, the claimant asserted.
She said she sent him notices via text and email that she could not ‘work in an environment where explicitly sexual comments are made about shampoo bottles doubling as dildos.’
In the court documents, it was stated that Brooks replied by saying she was misunderstanding the situation, and that Yearwood didn’t find the tone of the conversation awkward or uncomfortable.
In court documents, the plaintiff asserted that during an event in 2020, Brooks seized her phone and erased most of the texts he had sent to her while they were collaborating at a studio together.
Approximately halfway through September, prior to bringing a lawsuit against him, Brooks secretly lodged a complaint with a federal court in Mississippi, aiming to conceal her allegations, according to CNN’s report.
Stating that he is a well-known personality living in Tennessee, he defended himself against claims made by the makeup artist, which he described as ‘unfounded accusations.’
He asserted that she had requested ‘compensated work and health care advantages’ from him earlier, which he declined. Subsequently, her legal representative forwarded him a ‘private’ letter of allegation, accusing him of inappropriate behavior related to sexual conduct.
In his petition, Brooks requested the court to formally confirm that the makeup artist’s accusations were untrue, and to prohibit her from disseminating them any more publicly.
He firmly maintained that the accusations against the defendant are unfounded. It’s important to note that he understands the potential severe impact of these false claims, as they could significantly harm the plaintiff’s hard-won reputation for being a respectable and compassionate individual. Moreover, such false allegations could have detrimental effects on his family life, professional career, and livelihood, especially if she were to follow through with her promise to publicly disclose an unsubstantiated lawsuit.
This week, the attorney for the makeup artist filed a counterargument in response to Brooks’ submission, arguing that, being accused of sexual assault, he should not be granted anonymity.
Mr. Doe argues that he deserves equal protection as victims do, not merely to avoid additional distress, but primarily to uphold his public image. It’s important to note that our legal system in civil courts is established for resolving disagreements and offering avenues for parties who have been wronged to seek justice.
The gist of the argument is: ‘The system should be fair for all. It shouldn’t provide an opportunity for wealthy offenders to bypass justice when they are accused of sexual assault, as Mr. Doe is requesting the court to prevent.’
The attorney for the makeup artist has released a statement claiming that Brooks’ attempt to suppress their client by filing a premature lawsuit in Mississippi was merely a desperate move aimed at intimidating them.
They added: ‘We commend our client’s bravery for pursuing her grievance against Garth Brooks. Today’s filing underscores that sexual misconduct is not confined to sectors like corporate America, Hollywood, or the rap and rock industries; it also occurs in the realm of country music.’
