It’s hard to believe that GamingonPhone has been around for five years! Time seems to be moving so fast, it feels like just yesterday when we first began our journey. Over these past five years, we’ve gone through a lot – from breaking exclusive news to working closely with game developers, publishers, and PR agencies, and achieving some amazing milestones along the way. We’ve even managed to keep up during major Google algorithm updates, and here we are, continuing to provide you with top-notch mobile games coverage that you can rely on.

Google messed up its search in 2023

In recent times, the gaming media sector has encountered substantial hurdles. These include shifts in Google’s search algorithm as well as the broader economic recession affecting us globally. Our industry hasn’t been immune to these effects; we’ve experienced both direct and indirect impact from these challenges.

The second half of 2023 was the start of a nightmare for most of the small to medium-sized publishers. Google’s massive change in its algorithm hit very hard to internet media, including us. The frequent changes and volatile traffic were a pain. A post by RetroDodo sums it up very well. The storm forced many media to shut down (such as Kotaku AU, The Loadout etc), many are barely alive, and many changed their strategies. We are glad to survive this storm with 1.5 to 2 million monthly pageviews.

The positive response to our initial Gaming Policy Conference inspires us to expand it this year, offering increased networking possibilities and stimulating conversations that will propel the gaming sector forward.

As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that this year, we’ve significantly amplified our social footprint, particularly on Twitter. We’ve strategically increased our following and are now connecting with over a million users monthly. But that’s not all! GamingonPhone has become the most interactive mobile games media account on Twitter. By 2024, we aim to have 10,000 passionate followers joining us in this gaming journey.

Our LinkedIn presence has never been stronger, with interactions and growth at their highest points yet. We kicked off our LinkedIn strategy earlier in the year, and we’re thrilled to say that the outcomes have surpassed all our predictions. Meanwhile, on Instagram, our anime game-centric account is consistently generating 1.5 million monthly impressions.
