As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into various consoles and PC games throughout my life, I can’t help but be impressed by Microsoft’s recent offerings on Game Pass. July has been an absolute treat for those of us who appreciate smaller, unique titles, with the release of some true hidden gems like “The Case of the Golden Idol,” “Tchia,” “Neon White,” and “Flock.”
July, without any notable awards to its name, has been an impressive month for eclectic smaller games on Game Pass. The recent past has brought us some hidden gems such as “The Case of the Golden Idol,” “Tchia,” “Neon White,” and “Flock.”
In the second half of the month, the momentum carries on with three new releases debuting each week: “Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn,” a soulslike game, “Dungeons of Hinterberg,” an Alpine adventure, and “Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess,” an exceptional action-strategy title from Capcom.
Microsoft’s July update for Game Pass, usually covering the second half, is surprisingly brief this time. But Xbox Wire assures us, “stay tuned, we have another update coming soon.” So, there might be an unexpected addition to Game Pass before the month ends.
Without altering the meaning significantly,
In other parts, the captivating game “Dungeons of Hinterberg” (which I’ve had a brief experience with) is located in the Austrian Alps and attracts tourists seeking adventure and challenges by offering magical dungeons to explore. On the other hand, “Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn,” developed by New Zealand’s A44 Games (creators of “Ashen”), offers a “lighter” Souls-like experience with combat that syncs with rhythm as players aim to vanquish gods.
Here’s everything coming to Game Pass over the next couple of weeks — or is it?
New Game on Game Pass in July
- Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn — July 18 (cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X)
- Dungeons of Hinterberg — July 18 (cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X)
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess — July 19 (cloud, console, and PC)
As new games join the platform, others will eventually be removed. This is just part of the natural process. I strongly recommend trying out “A Short Hike” and “Venba” before they might be gone.
Games leaving Game Pass on July 31
- A Short Hike (cloud, console, and PC)
- Train Sim World 4 (cloud, console, and PC)
- Venba (cloud, console, and PC)
