If a ninth season were to materialize, it would require delivering more answers and perhaps exploring the White Walkers without resurrecting them.

Jon’s Story In The Seven Kingdoms Is Over

His departure was one of the series’ most fitting conclusions, and while it might be possible to concoct a reason for him to return to Winterfell or even King’s Landing, such a move could feel contrived. Moreover, such a scenario would take him away from his rightful place and where his attention should primarily lie.

If a ninth season were to occur, I would like to delve deeper into Jon’s story, focusing on his connection to Westeros – particularly his emotional turmoil regarding what transpired between him and Daenerys, as well as healing the emotional wounds he carries. This exploration could be furthered through his interactions with the wildlings, while also discovering new territories.

This Could Be A Story Of Survival & Discovery

As the Wildlings return beyond the Wall, it’s likely they will seek new habitats since Castle Black doesn’t appear to be their permanent home. Although much of that territory has been explored previously, there are enormous, unexplored areas that might have remained untouched by humans for millennia. By guiding the Wildlings on an expedition, Jon could transform his tale into an exploration story, offering a fresh twist to his character’s journey.

I’m considering crafting a tale that feels like an exploration of uncharted territories, but instead of the classic Wild West setting, it takes place in the frosty north. Alongside Jon’s struggle for healing and a fresh beginning, we can embark on a survival adventure and exploration journey with him and the wildlings. If we choose to take this direction, it could lead us to places Game of Thrones never visited: the extreme northernmost regions known as The Land of Always Winter, where legends speak of the White Walkers originating from.

Martin’s last installments in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series are set to explore that region, yet the television show failed to do so. Reflecting on its portrayal of the White Walkers, it’s a shame they didn’t seize this chance.

However, it could provide us with a rare insight into what their daily lives looked like, as we currently know very little about them.

Was there a place where they resided together as a group? Could this help us estimate their population size? Would it provide additional insights about the intricate patterns they carved? As for the infants transformed into White Walkers by the Night King, is there any more information available on that topic? These aspects could potentially be expanded upon.

It’s plausible that the Children of the Forest, despite being believed to be extinct, may still exist somewhere. Should any survive, hiding in the remote regions of the north might be a wise choice, especially after the White Walkers have moved south. Given their history of secretive survival, it wouldn’t be surprising if they managed to endure for this long. If any are left, there’s a chance that Jon could run into them and learn more about the origins of the White Walkers, as well as the true identity of the Night King.

However, this revelation leaves us with many unanswered questions about his origin and motivations, which I find frustrating. A character with a human (or formerly human) background requires a more detailed explanation and clearer motivation, which the show seemed to lack. Fortunately, these aspects could potentially be expanded upon in future retcons of the story.
