Game of Thrones Was an Immense Success for HBO
Throughout its eight seasons, Game of Thrones received over 160 Emmy nominations and won 59 of those awards. It remains HBO’s most popular series to date, with the final season drawing an average of 46 million viewers in the U.S. – a record for the network. The show’s success led to several spin-offs, including prequel series and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Reports also suggest a sequel series is in development, potentially featuring characters who survived the original show.
HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The show featured a large ensemble cast, including Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarley, and Conleth Hill as Varys.
