Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Character Class Guide: Best Classes Ranked
A Look at the Character Classes in “Game of Thrones: Kingsroad” – Your Ultimate Guide
In brief, “Game of Thrones: Kingsroad,” developed by Netmarble, is an immersive open-world role-playing game (RPG) set within the captivating world of Westeros. Announced in November 2022 and released in May 2025, this game has been a long-awaited addition to the gaming community. The map is vast and filled with tension and adventure, allowing players to delve deep into the corners of Westeros. One of the most eagerly anticipated aspects of this game is the ability to experiment with various characters to suit your preferred play style. With this in mind, we are thrilled to present our Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Character Class guide, helping you make the perfect character choice for your gaming experience.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Class System Overview
As soon as you launch the game, it presents a character selection interface with three distinct character types for you to pick from initially. Although you must select one at the outset, you have the flexibility to switch between characters during gameplay and control multiple ones simultaneously.

Regardless of the character class you choose, the narrative remains consistent as you’ll encounter the same tasks and episodes. If you’re eager to explore more aspects of the game, feel free to experiment with various characters. The lore revolves around House Tyre, where you are an illegitimate child, a common occurrence in Westeros, born to Marrok Tyre, the last representative of the lineage. While on a mission, you learn that your lord is unwell, prompting you to make your way back home.
1. Knight
In simpler terms, the Knight class is the ideal choice for a fair game, offering a unique charm and being considered one of the most elegantly designed characters. Its moves and combat style evoke images of renowned fighters such as Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister.

In an unexpected turn of events, I find that wielding a Knight is more effective against foes compared to using a sellsword. Its agility and speed are truly unparalleled. This class, in particular, offers the smoothest learning curve, making it my go-to choice. Given the chance, I’d place Knight somewhere between Assassin and Sellsword when ranking them all based on ease of use.
Knight has two types of class-specific skills:
- Valor
- Ignite
What I appreciate about Ignite Skill, and what makes it appealing to me, is its ability to deal ongoing damage to opponents, and additionally attack them during their vulnerable state. Here are some other active skills we have available:
- Shoulder Charge
- Pommel Strike
- Charge Stab
- Riposte Stance
- Ignite Weapon
- Pound
- Slashes
2. Assassin
In my gaming world, I embody a character who mirrors Arya Stark’s courage and wit. By day, I’m a humble messenger, toiling for the well-being of my in-game family. However, when the sun sets, I shed that guise and transform into an unrelenting assassin, armed with not one, but two deadly daggers.
This particular class is considered the most confrontational or belligerent one, yet it appears remarkably serene. If you’re inclined towards playing the game with maximum aggression, then choosing an assassin-type character would be your best bet. This class boasts the highest instantaneous damage output within the game.

This character, referred to as an Assassin, will provide a seamless gaming experience. However, be aware that this class is a balance between high risk and potential rewards. With increased damage-per-second (DPS) capabilities, mastering the Assassin requires full dedication and strategic thinking if you wish to delve deeply into the game mechanics. Yet, for those looking purely for entertainment, there’s no need to construct an overly complex or specialized build. The game allows you to appreciate it fully regardless of the class you select.
Class-specific skills for the assassin are:
- Sanguine Crush
- Poison
Active skills for the Assassin are:
- Turning Kick
- Ambush
- Poison
- Dagger Throw
- Ignite Weapon
- Cutting Mutilation
- Retreat
- Agile Movement
3. Sellsword
Underwent gruff and robust tutelage at House Umber, which made you fearless and a formidable soldier for hire. This character exudes an edgy vibe, making him ideal for players aiming to project a tough image in the game. The rugged appearance of this figure fits you perfectly if you wish to embody strength and resilience.
Equipped with a rugged, heaving chest and an impressive grip, your main weapon in combat is a towering, two-handed battle axe. It’s similar to Robert’s Warhammer, but instead of crushing, yours will cleave through foes. With each mighty swing, you’ll crush enemies and shatter the ground beneath them. The thunderous impacts will instill terror in your adversaries.

As a fan, I’ve found that wielding a massive and weighty weapon comes with its own unique pace – it slows me down significantly. This class isn’t about stealth or swiftness; instead, it’s all about raw power. Surprisingly, however, this class can move like a lightning-fast sprinter when needed and leap with the agility of an athlete at its peak! Despite the slow start, a Sellsword is built to withstand a great deal of damage. Each character in this game possesses two types of abilities: Basic and Active skills. For the Sellsword, there are two unique class-specific skills to master.
- Shock
- Hitstun Immunity
There are four basic combos and multiple special attacks. Active skills are:
- Fury
- Earth Strike
- Roar
- Violent Charge
- Ignite Weapon
- Whirlwind Slash
- Merciless Strike
- Rampage
How to choose the best Character Class in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad
Based on your preference and gaming approach, you can select either one, and you’ll find that you’ve covered nearly all aspects of the game. Personally, I opt for the Sellsword class because I’m deeply into pure action and prefer not to spend too much time sneaking or strategizing. However, it’s worth noting that the Assassin is currently very popular among players.
If you appreciate a leisurely pace but crave immersive, expansive action sequences, opt for the Sellsword. Action enthusiasts like myself would surely recommend this class. However, if you’re eager to delve deeper into the game’s narrative and uncover its secrets, I’d suggest giving the Assassin a try instead. Remember, there are other classes to explore as well!
As a gamer, I’d recommend linking your account to dive into the game with every class available. A smart move is to experiment with a class during the early stages of play, at least up to levels 5 or 6. These classes are quite straightforward to unlock, making them perfect for getting a taste of what each one offers. If any class manages to pique your interest, then by all means, immerse yourself in the game with that particular class!
