Game of Thrones infographic shows every spinoff in development
As a seasoned movie buff who’s spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of Westeros and Essos, I must admit, I find myself both enchanted and slightly overwhelmed by the plethora of upcoming Game of Thrones projects. It’s like a feast fit for a king, but with so many courses, one might fear an overindulgence in dragons and political intrigue.
The popular TV series “Game of Thrones” concluded in the year 2019, yet HBO has ensured that its impact remains vivid. Subsequently, a spinoff titled “House of the Dragon” was released, followed by another, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms“, set to premiere next year. There are several more concepts in the pipeline, many of which we know about due to various leaks. Whether these other ideas will eventually materialize remains uncertain, but possibilities are endless.
There are numerous Game of Thrones-related projects currently underway, making it quite challenging to stay updated. For those seeking a recap, check out this helpful infographic shared by @westerosies:

This lines up with everything we’ve heard. Spinoff run-down!
Confirmed Game of Thrones spinoffs
- House of the Dragon: This show set well over 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones has wrapped up its second season and will return for a third in 2026.
- A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: This prequel is set decades after the events of House of the Dragon but decades before Game of Thrones and will have a lighter tone.
Game of Thrones prequels in development
- A live-action TV show about Aegon’s Conquest, when Aegon I Targaryen took over the Seven Kingdoms around 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
- A live-action TV show about Nymeria of the Rhoynar, who led her people from Essos to Dorne back in the days when the Valyrian empire was still at its height.
- A third live-action show. We don’t have any details on this one.
- A Game of Thrones movie.
- A play called The Iron Throne, set at the Tournament of Harrenhal before Robert’s Rebellion. This one sounds pretty much confirmed and could debut next year.
- An animated series about the youthful adventures of Corlys Velaryon, aka the Sea Snake, played as an older man by Steve Toussaint on House of the Dragon.
- An animated series about the Golden Empire of Yi Ti, a distant civilization we don’t hear much about in either Game of Thrones or in George R.R. Martin’s book series A Song of Ice and Fire.
- Three more animated series. We don’t know anything about any of them.
To clarify at this juncture, I must emphasize that these projects may not ultimately come to fruition (with the exception of The Iron Throne, which seems to be progressing). In fact, it’s likely that many, if not all, will fail to materialize (excluding The Iron Throne again). We’ll be watching for further updates.
