Discussing how he became part of the project, Anderson (who is married to Jovovich) shared with Screen Slate that he learned about George through Jovovich, as she is an avid fan of fantasy. In fact, she is a big fan of George and has read all his books.

She paid close attention to George, and later, she got contacted by my colleague Constantin Werner, who owned the rights to three short stories penned by George. These stories were ‘In the Lost Lands’, ‘The Solitary Melodies of Laren Dorr’, and ‘Bitterblooms’.

When Mila exclaimed, ‘Wow, that’s George! You might want to discuss this with Constantin Werner. Perhaps we should take part ourselves,’ it marked a significant starting point for me.
