Galactus Unleashed: Fantastic Four’s Epic Battle Teased by Producer and Director
Despite first appearing as a planet-sized cosmic cloud without dialogue in “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” back in 2007, the iconic character Galactus is set to make a more faithful appearance in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” scheduled for release next month. Played by Ralph Ineson, this version of the Devourer of Worlds promises to be a significant menace in the upcoming Marvel movie. I can hardly contain my excitement after hearing producer Grant Curtis and director Matt Shakman’s hints about Galactus’s immense presence in the film.
As I recently stepped foot on the set of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” a year ago, whispers circulated about the enigmatic character I was about to encounter – Galactus. Though his casting, brilliantly executed by the talented Travis Ineson, had been announced for several months prior, we were yet to catch a glimpse of the antagonist who first appeared in the 1966 issue #48 of Fantastic Four. Grant Curtis, the creative mind behind this production, shared some intriguing insights into what Galactus’s arrival on our 1960s retrofuturistic Earth will entail:
“Prepare yourselves, for when Galactus comes to our world, he will be nothing short of awe-inspiring.” – Grant Curtis.
The magnitude of the situation we face is beyond anything you might imagine; it’s cosmic-scale, even for the grandest imagination. In other words, it’s not just a big deal, but a colossal, universe-altering issue. And let me tell you, when Galactus sets his sights on your planet, you’re in deep trouble. So, if you’re looking for a villain with an impressive scope and skill, look no further than Galactus. This cosmic entity is known to bring just that kind of catastrophic impact.
More Fantastic Four Coverage

I’m Extremely Impressed with the Potential of the Fantastic Four to Achieve Greatness, Following My Visit to the Movie’s Set and Learning About Their Inclusion in the ‘Elite Circle’ of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The director of the Fantastic Four confirms that Reed Richards’ lab is divided into three main areas, each with its unique purpose, and debunks a popular comic book rumor.
In “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Galactus and his emissary, Silver Surfer played by Julia Garner, make their way to Earth following an unintentional alert given off by Reed Richards, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, during his efforts to expand the limits of space. It’s important to note that Galactus doesn’t consume planets for amusement; he needs it to sustain himself. This cosmic being is incredibly powerful within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possibly even across the entire multiverse, so if your planet catches his eye, it requires a miracle to keep him from carrying out his mission.
It’s a given that the Fantastic Four will make their comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, yet I can’t help but fret over whether their world will still exist by the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The wait for an answer won’t be much longer, but until then, let me share some insights from director Matt Shakman regarding his portrayal of Galactus in this series.
This character is intimidating for these characters, without a doubt, and even more so for this world. He towers over life in every aspect you can imagine. Standing at approximately 1000 feet tall on a good day, he’s as old as the universe itself, dating back to 14 billion years. However, it’s important to note that despite his immense size and age, he is a beloved, iconic villain from the Fantastic Four series, giving us an opportunity to delve deeper into one of the greats – one of the legendary villains.
Having grown up reading the initial Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four comics, I’m excitedly anticipating the big-screen portrayal of Galactus, a character I believed could surpass Thanos as the MCU’s ultimate antagonist. It’ll be intriguing to watch Reed Richards, Sue Storm (portrayed by Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm figure out how to deal with Galactus, considering whether they can stop him or merely keep him from Earth, much like their initial comic book encounter with the cosmic entity.
Besides Galactus and Silver Surfer, the main characters of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will also encounter Mole Man. However, his actor has yet to be announced officially. Catch the superhero team in action from July 25 onwards.
