As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless virtual worlds and faced countless terrifying creatures, I can confidently say that Gabrielle Union’s latest project, “The Casket Girls,” is a thrilling addition to my cinematic horizon. With a life filled with battling digital demons and vampires, I am eager to see how Union brings her unique charm and charisma to the role of Detective Shay Williams in this horror film.

If you’re a follower of the brilliant actress Gabrielle Union, here’s some exciting news: She’s taken on a new role, both as an actress and a producer, for an upcoming horror movie called “The Casket Girls“.

The movie’s production company is QC Entertainment, a company that gained significant recognition for co-producing the successful psychological horror film “Get Out.” The director of the 2020 supernatural horror film “Anything for Jackson,” Justin Dyck, has been enlisted to direct this project. Moreover, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant initially wrote the script for the movie, which was later refined by Dyck and Keith Cooper.

The novel, “The Casket Girls,” is based on a real-life account. This captivating tale draws inspiration from the true events of a band of women who were dispatched from France to New Orleans during the early 1700s. Their mission was to wed colonists. They earned their moniker, “The Casket Girls,” because they transported small boxes or caskets during their journey, containing their personal possessions.

Following their arrival in New Orleans, there was a noticeable surge in the city’s murder rate, with several of these crimes involving victims who had lost large amounts of blood. As the homicide rate spiked after their arrival, the townsfolk suspected the girls were connected to these murders, even going so far as to believe they were supernatural entities such as demons or vampires. Consequently, they confined the girls in the attic of a convent under Vatican control, fearing for their own safety.

In a contemporary horror movie, Union is set to portray Detective Shay Williams. As the story unfolds, Shay and her partner get caught up in the Ursuline Convent alongside a group of tourists. For the first time in more than three hundred years, the Casket Girls manage to break free from their attic confinement.

In her acting career, Union hasn’t taken on many roles in horror genres. Interestingly, her only other horror project was the series “Night Stalker.” Despite this limited experience in horror, we have confidence that she will deliver a stellar performance. At present, Union is the sole actor cast for this upcoming film.

Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield from QC Entertainment are overseeing the production of the upcoming movie. Union and Edward H. Hamm Jr. from QC are also executive producers for the project. Jameson Parker is set to be an executive producer as well, representing Lighthouse Pictures. Filming is expected to commence in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on October 15th, although the exact date when production will complete has yet to be determined.
