G2 move on past NiP to Fall Finals

The BLAST Premier Fall Group stage is currently taking place in Copenhagen, featuring top-tier teams worldwide. However, only six of these teams will move on to the Fall Finals scheduled for August. The remaining teams must contend in a qualifier event known as the Showdown. Today, G2 outplayed NIP and secured their spot in the Fall Finals.

G2 qualify for Fall Finals

Initially, the first ancient map propelled team G2 to an impressive beginning, leading them by a substantial 7-1 margin. In this advantageous position, mONESY delivered a remarkable performance, significantly boosting the squad’s morale. By the end of the first map, mONESY had amassed an impressive 24 frags, effectively setting the tempo for both him and team G2.

Despite some flashes of exceptional play from NIP, their team ultimately struggled to match the firepower and accuracy of G2 Esports. Nonetheless, NIP put up a commendable fight, ending the game on Ancient with a score of 13-7 in favor of G2.

On the second map of Inferno, there was a more balanced first half between NiP and G2 Esports. Throughout the match on Inferno, G2 consistently pushed aggressively during their attacking phase, frequently engaging in fights that could potentially put the team in danger. This aggressive approach was largely influenced by the ease with which they had previously overcome NiP in the previous map. Despite some initial missteps, G2’s performance was still commendable as they managed to accumulate a similar score. They were particularly strong on the defensive side, only conceding two rounds. MalbsMd concluded the match with 16 kills to his name, slightly behind huNter who had 18. In the end, G2 won Inferno with a score of 13-8. This victory gave them a 2-0 win in the series and secured their place at the Fall Finals.

In a double-elimination setup, sixteen teams are competing in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, marking the start of the new season. The tournament happens offline (LAN), but without any live spectators due to safety precautions. A total prize pool of $190,000 is at stake for this event.
