G2 Caps on Arcane Season 3: “I’d love getting some LeBlanc”

As a European League of Legends pro player with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen and felt the passion and excitement of G2 fans firsthand. Their unwavering support has been a driving force for us during tough times, giving us the energy to push through and come out on top.

G2 Caps chats with esports.gg during the LEC 2024 Summer Playoffs.

At Esports.gg, we had a conversation with Rasmus “Caps” Winther from G2 Esports following their victorious 2-0 match against surprise team SK Gaming in the regular season. We discussed the current state of the game, upcoming modifications, and his preferred picks for Arcane Season 3.

G2 Esports faced two losses in the LEC Summer Split’s opening week following their return from the Mid-Season Invitational. However, since then, this four-time LEC champion squad has regained its form and has been leading the competition once again, aiming for another trophy. Mid laner G2 Caps sat down with esports.gg to discuss the upcoming playoffs.

G2 Caps misses pre-midseason meta

As a gamer, I’m elated after our recent series against SK Gaming! It wasn’t an easy win, especially with the second game getting off to a rough start. But we managed to pull through and secure the victory. I’m feeling confident and proud of my team’s resilience. As for our playoffs run, I believe we have what it takes to make it far. Our team dynamics are stronger than ever, and we’ve learned from past mistakes. Let’s keep pushing forward!

Rasmus “Caps” Winther: I’m quite content with how the series went. Some of our matches this split were among our best. However, there are still areas for improvement. Overall, we had command over most of the games.

From my perspective as a fan, the team’s split didn’t get off to an easy start. To be honest, I believe we were all baffled by the meta in the initial stages. Moreover, I admit that my personal performance wasn’t up to the mark during the first few weeks. Consequently, our progress was sluggish. However, with each passing week, I see noticeable improvement from the team. Currently, they seem quite at ease and I am optimistic about their prospects in the remaining playoff matches. In fact, I am confident that they can surpass today’s performance.

Have you talked to many NA and EU players who express concern over the unpredictable nature of the game meta after the midseason updates? I’m curious, do you share their sentiments about the volatile meta post-midseason updates?

As someone who has been following and playing League of Legends for several years now, I must admit that I was taken aback by the recent changes to the meta, particularly in the mid lane. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that metas shift and evolve over time, but this one feels a bit more restrictive than the ones before it.

As someone who has played League of Legends for several years and competed at the highest level in tournaments like MSI, I’ve noticed some interesting shifts in champion picks and meta strategies. In my opinion, the mid lane pool isn’t as diverse as it used to be, with fewer champions seeing regular play compared to other roles. However, on the bright side, the jungle role has seen a surge in popularity for AP junglers like Leona, Nautilus, and Gragas.

Speaking of enjoying a diversity of champions, we’ve been polling pro players and coaches on their opinions on the new international event featuring Fearless Draft. Do you have any thoughts on Fearless Draft as a format?

I haven’t delved deep into Fearless Draft yet, and truth be told, my opinions on it are still forming. Having played a variety of champions throughout my gaming journey, I find the concept intriguing: “you can’t play something you already played.” It resonates with me as someone who enjoys exploring new possibilities in the game. However, I sense that the drafting process could prove to be quite complex, and I’m eager to familiarize myself with its nuances. With each passing day, my interest in Fearless Draft grows, and I look forward to the unique challenges it may bring.

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of gaming, I must admit that the prospect of trying out a new game or strategy is always exciting. Yet, I’ve yet to truly invest myself in this particular endeavor. I haven’t gone through the motions of creating a mock draft or simulating potential outcomes in future games. However, if this new experience serves as an opportunity to explore newer champions and broaden my horizons within the gaming community, then count me in! The thrill of discovery and the joy of learning something new are experiences that I hold dear in my life.

I had the pleasure of posing a query to Dylan not too long ago, and I’m eager to share it with you all. Imagine if you will, that after the thrilling conclusion of Arcane Season 2, our beloved characters find themselves at a crossroads, pondering which region to explore next: Arcane or Fortiche. Given Dylan’s deep understanding of both worlds, I asked for his insightful opinion.

Caps: Hmm. That’s a hard one. I feel like there’s a lot of regions that could be quite cool. I’m trying to think of a champion because there’s a lot of cool stories. But I feel like redoing the stories that are already quite cool might not be the best. Maybe somebody who doesn’t have as much lore, or at least that I’m not familiar with. I could see, maybe, an Ezreal story where he travels around and explores. So maybe not a specific place, but, you know, following Ezreal around. Maybe he gets some ancient artifacts, stuff like that. I think that could be pretty cool.

I’m torn between choosing my preferred region… It’s a toss-up between Noxus, I guess. After all, my favorite champion is LeBlanc, so I’d relish the opportunity to witness her exploits. However, I’m not certain if she would make an effective lead character due to her elusive nature. Instead, I believe assigning her the role of the main antagonist could be intriguing. Imagine her making periodic appearances throughout each episode, lurking in the shadows (leaning out from behind a curtain for effect), manipulating people and orchestrating deceptions. Perhaps she has been among us all along, disguised as one of our known characters but transformed into something sinister. This concept holds great potential, let’s explore it further.
