Fury as Blake Lively repeatedly refers to transgender people as trannies in resurfaced interviews

As an ardent fan who has followed Blake Lively‘s career since her Gossip Girl days, I must say I am deeply disappointed and saddened by the recent revelations about her past use of transphobic slurs. While it is true that language evolves over time, and certain words may have been more casually used in the early 2000s, it is never acceptable to demean or belittle anyone based on their identity.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself in the unfortunate position of addressing a past mistake. In several interviews from the 2000s, I unintentionally used the phrase “tranny,” a term that has since been recognized as offensive to the transgender community. I deeply regret my choice of words back then and want to make it clear that I fully support and respect the rights and identities of all individuals, especially those within the transgender community. In light of growing awareness and understanding about language and its impact on marginalized groups, I am committed to learning from this experience and using more considerate and inclusive terminology moving forward.

In the past few weeks, The It Ends With Us Star has faced a wave of criticism due to accusations of thoughtlessly marketing her recent movie, allegations of conflicts on set with colleagues, and re-emerging interviews that suggest she disparaged interviewers.

Currently, she finds herself back under scrutiny due to a past Elle Magazine interview where she expresses her desire for daughters or heirs to whom she can pass on her cherished shoe and handbag collections.

A clip from an interview that’s been widely shared on platform X sparked a chain of responses, pointing out instances where Lively allegedly used a derogatory term during the 2000s.

The 36-year-old actress, recognized for her progressive political views and wedded to the actor famed as Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds, received negative comments from online users, who described her as ‘unpleasant’.

In this place as well, she repeated the same phrase. Back in the early 2000s, such language was commonly used in a casual manner by many people.

In her conversation with Elle Magazine, Lively expressed her desire for having daughters someday, or if not biological daughters, she prefers them to be transgender individuals. She has an impressive collection of shoes, handbags, and compelling tales that she wishes to share.

In a 2009 interview with Allure magazine, the celebrity – who now has four children, three daughters and a son – repeated his use of that phrase.

As a dedicated follower, I often find myself grappling with feelings that are hard to express. There are times when I feel out of place, almost as if I don’t quite fit into the mold society has set for me. I’m not sure how to describe it, but I often feel oversized in certain situations. When I don my six-inch heels, I tower over every man around me. My long hair, the abundance of clothing, and layers of makeup seem to add to this sense of size. It’s not just the physical aspect; I often feel like a colossus among pygmies, surrounded by people who seem diminutive in comparison. Sometimes, I even catch glimpses of my masculinity, reminding me that beneath it all, I am still a man.

And in a third example, she repeats the slur in an on-screen interview with her then-Gossip Girl castmate Leighton Meester.

An off-screen interviewer is heard asking the pair about rumors they ‘didn’t get on.’

Lively responded: “If you check out the celebrity tabloids, it seems like everyone is dating each other, everyone despises each other, everyone has undergone numerous cosmetic procedures and they might even be men or transgender individuals. But here’s the thing: don’t believe all the gossip.”

One X user highlighted the original Elle magazine quote with the caption: ‘Sometimes I’ll be quietly going about my day and then I’ll remember the time Blake Lively said this to a journalist.’

The post received over 18,000 likes.

One user replied: ‘I get what she was trying to say because someone better appreciate all that Vintage Versace she has. But she could have used different wording.’

Another wrote: ‘You just blew up the whole smear campaign with this one.’

A third said: ‘Not Lady Deadpool…’

A separate Reddit threat posted one day ago accused Lively of dropping a ‘transphobic slur’ in a video clip which has since been deleted.

In the responses, a commenter wrote: ‘That’s awful!’

On the other hand, it was noted by numerous internet users that the term didn’t carry the same negative connotations back then as it does now, and it was frequently used in popular culture.

One said: ‘I’m actually not mad at this at all. The word was thrown around a lot back in the day. If it was said today it would be problematic, but nothing is wrong with wishing for a trans child.’

In a different era, the show Sex and the City frequently employed a particular term, even in scenes featuring genuine trans individuals.

Vibrant finds herself at the center of a controversial media frenzy, sparked by whispers of a backstage dispute with Justin Baldoni, aged 40, who is both her co-actor and director in their recent production titled “It Ends With Us.”

She sparked more criticism from fans after she promoted her brands Betty Booze and Betty Buzz – along with her new hair-care brand Blake Brown, at the same time as the promotions for ‘It Ends With Us.’

A number of spectators were taken aback by the actress’s decision to endorse her personal product lines while marketing a film tackling such a grave issue as domestic violence.

Since then, many have returned the hair care products to Target stores.

In my fervor, I can’t help but reflect on a moment that stirred quite the buzz. You see, there was this interview with the radiant Lively, where she was expecting. A journalist extended his well-wishes, referring to her ‘little bump.’ But oh, how she responded! In a witty, sarcastic tone, she playfully retorted, as if to say, “Oh, you mean this? I’d never have guessed!” Now, that’s the charm of Blake Lively, right?

She fired back: ‘Congrats on your little bump.’

As a woman who has struggled with infertility, I shared with DailyMail.com that a recent comment felt like a sharp blow, much like the impact of a bullet, due to my personal inability to conceive.

DailyMail.com reached out to Lively’s representatives for comment.
