FURIA Tatu eyes Canyon duel at MSI 2025: “He’s the Greatest of All Time”
At MSI 2025, FURIA has guaranteed their attendance following their triumph in the LTA South region. We had a chat with Tatu regarding their recent win and the preparations they’ve made for the upcoming tournament.
19-year-old Pedro “Tatu” Seixas, hailing from Brazil, is ready to take the stage for the first time at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in 2025 with FURIA. Aiming high, he has his sights set on competing against and potentially outshining top players such as Gen.G’s renowned jungler, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, who are considered the best in the world.
During a chat with Xpsp, Tatu looked back at FURIA’s convincing 3-0 victory over paiN Gaming in the LTA South final and offered some behind-the-scenes glimpses into their preparations for this significant event. The first game for FURIA is set to take place on June 27 against G2 Esports.
Tatu talks about the “underdog syndrome” and how some people might want to see FURIA fail easily in the MSI 2025
The split performance was fantastic, yet paiN Gaming seemed unstoppable, dominating every opponent. Can you shed light on any shift in their mentality prior to the Grand Final?
In truth, our team generally relies heavily on our own confidence. It seems to me that this is largely due to the buzz within the community; paiN has a substantial fan base, which makes it simpler to construct such a story around them. However, within the FURIA organization, we were well aware of our abilities and believed in our potential to claim the title.
Before FURIA qualified for the MSI 2025, what was the reaction of the Brazilian community to this news?
Tatu: It seems that, despite FURIA having a smaller fan base than paiN, we were warmly received by all, and it became clear in the end that we were the superior team. People recognize our potential to shine both internationally and domestically again. I believe everyone is pleased for us. Some assume we’ll lose effortlessly due to our underdog status. However, others are eager to see if we can advance in the competition, to witness if we can truly measure up against them. There’s a sense of curiosity about whether we can really deliver on our potential. I am incredibly happy.
I have confidence that you’ll excel. How does it feel to potentially win your initial Split in the top league and secure a spot at the MSI 2025 simultaneously?”
This version uses simpler language, maintains the original meaning, and is easy for the reader to understand.
Tatu: I was overjoyed because it felt like getting two rewards at once. I almost shed tears when I emerged victorious. Fortunately, the victory wasn’t contested too much, making it less challenging than expected. The score was 3-0, and honestly, I never imagined I would win 3-0 in the Grand Finals, especially against paiN. It felt like a dream sequence – “What is going on?” or “What kind of life am I living?” It was an enormous shock and a fresh experience for me.
“I want to play against Canyon. He is the G.O.A.T.”
“How is your preparation for the MSI 2025 going now?“
Tatu: So far, we haven’t been able to train extensively, but ideally, we’d like to train more. Nevertheless, we managed to train for three days, and despite taking some hits along the way, we stood our ground as well. On the final day of training with G2 Esports, we had an exceptional training session, and everyone is optimistic about facing G2. To be honest, I’m quite pleased with how things have gone so far. We’ve performed admirably.
“How do you think your game against G2 Esports will be? What are your expectations?”
Tatu: I believe this game is going to be extremely challenging, incredibly tough. Everyone needs to be highly motivated and exceptionally active. It takes a lot of courage to emerge victorious. Aside from Bilibili Gaming, BLG, G2, FURIA, and GAM, they are one of the strongest teams. However, I’m confident we will come out on top. My goal is a 3-1 victory. I think we’ll drop the first match, win the next two, and then stage an impressive comeback in the third game.
Considering FURIA might advance in the tournament, who is the player or team you’d most like to face off against if given the chance?
Tatu: Many people dream of going up against Anyone’s Legend, but I personally prefer challenging Canyon. In my opinion, he’s the greatest of all time (GOAT).
