FURIA JoJo: “I hope people start paying more attention to our team and our region”

At MSI 2025, FURIA JoJo expresses gratitude towards the fans for their unwavering support and emphasizes the importance of focusing on the impressive skills of Brazilian esports players, following their defeat at the hands of GAM Esports.

In a tough 2-3 game series, FURIA was defeated by GAM Esports. However, Gabriel “JoJo” Dzelme de Oliveira, the young support player, maintains a positive outlook about the team’s potential on the global stage. He believes that FURIA possesses a lot of untapped talent and encourages fans to keep backing them during upcoming tournaments such as the Esports World Cup, which begins next month.

In a conversation, FURIA’s JoJo chatted with Xpsp about their series against GAM, his aspirations for the 2025 World Championship, and the global backing that the team has been given.

GAM’s composed execution highlights the communication breakdowns within FURIA at the MSI 2025

What do you think could have been different in this game against GAM Esports?

JoJo expressed his thoughts: It seems we failed to appreciate our skill level during the match, even though we had an early lead. Instead of maintaining our advantage, we opted for risky moves that didn’t pan out. I believe I could have made different choices in that situation.

Which was your biggest challenge facing GAM Esports?

JoJo: I believe the main factor in today’s match was their superior discipline. Our team wasn’t as disciplined, our strategies weren’t executed well, there was a lot of internal conflict, and they seemed much more focused than we did.

“How was the communication during the last match?”

JoJo: We had disagreements over various issues, with one individual advocating for one approach, and another pushing for something different. This led to a chaotic situation that I think didn’t serve us well, not just in the last game, but also in previous ones.

How did you anticipate the match against GAM Esports, given that the initial encounter with G2 went as far as the fifth game?

JoJo: Initially, we felt we had a chance to emerge victorious. Granted, we recognized it wouldn’t come without a struggle, yet we harbored strong confidence in our ability to win. In due course, we would face G2 Esports once more and seek our retribution.

Aiming for the LoL Worlds 2025

“After all, how do you describe FURIA’s presence at the MSI 2025?”

JoJo expressed his belief that the moment was beneficial, as it enabled us to acquire valuable insights in the short period we spent here. These learnings will undeniably improve our team dynamics for upcoming tournaments such as EWC and LTA. Our ultimate goal is to participate in LoL Worlds 2025, a dream we hold dear.

Suppose FURIA manages to make it to the League of Legends World Championship 2025, who would you prefer they compete against in the tournament?

JoJo: I wished to face off against numerous opponents, and ideally, I would’ve triumphed yesterday to battle BLG. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to pass. Perhaps we’ll meet again under different circumstances.

“That means that you think that BLG will win today!”

JoJo: Yes, I think BLG will win against G2 3-1. Maybe even a 3-0, but I’m not aiming for that.

“We saw many FURIA players using that nose strap. Is there any specific reason for that?”

JoJo: I’m not convinced; they claimed it improved breathing, but it seems more like a placebo. I tried it myself today, and I noticed no difference at all. It appears to be the power of suggestion at play. I removed it afterwards.

“I asked the same question to Guigo. Do you think that Tatu’s hairstyle gave you bad luck?”

JoJo: For sure. It was exactly that. I’m almost sure that it was the reason.

FURIA JoJo: “I want to apologize for not going further in the competition.”

Are you conscious that a massive global backing has been coming your way regarding X, significantly following your series with G2 Esports? What are your thoughts on the enthusiastic fan response?

JoJo expressed that he didn’t get to see much online, but from what he gathered, it sounded incredibly awesome – something he hadn’t anticipated happening. He felt we weren’t receiving enough backing from the Brazilian community, but following our match against G2, witnessing the international audience rally for us was a fantastic surprise. He believes the enthusiasm will continue, and he hopes more people will begin to notice our team and our region.

“Do you already have some expectations for the Esports World Cup?”

JoJo: Right now, I’m considering taking some time off for relaxation and a break. Yet, I believe our work here, the knowledge we’ve gained, will help us perform even better elsewhere. There’s a chance my training might be challenging during that period. Keep in mind, Brazilian teams are at Bootcamp. However, I remain optimistic that we’ll excel there.

What would be the message you’d like to convey to your large, supportive Brazilian fanbase during this MSI tournament?

JoJo begins by expressing his regret for falling short in the competition. Despite our full potential being evident, we didn’t manage to advance as far as we hoped. He urges fans to continue supporting FURIA and rooting for them, with a special shout-out to dedicated FURIA supporters. Rest assured, they will bounce back stronger next time. Being the resilient team that they are, he encourages everyone to stay tuned and keep cheering because it truly makes a difference.
