Full House Star’s Near-Death Experience: How a Cold Almost Took His Life!
Dave Coulier, famous for his role on Full House, is sharing insights about his cancer chemotherapy journey and how a seemingly ordinary cold almost took his life.
Originally, this comedian gained recognition in the ’80s and ’90s for his humorous portrayal of character Joey Gladstone on a popular sitcom, as well as lending his voice to various animated characters.
Here’s another way:
This comedian initially rose to fame during the ’80s and ’90s due to his comical performance as Joey Gladstone in a hit sitcom, as well as by voicing several cartoon characters.
Back in October, it was disclosed by Coulier that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and has since begun undergoing chemotherapy sessions.
He mentioned about a month after the fact that he was battling an extremely aggressive type of cancer. However, it came to light in late March that he had no longer been suffering from cancer.
The actor appeared as a guest on the podcast “How Rude, Tanneritos” alongside his co-stars from Full House and Fuller House, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber. In this discussion, he shared insights into his personal journey.
Additionally, he shared that it took three weeks after his last treatment for him to be declared cancer-free. During this time, he came down with a severe cold which nearly proved fatal for him.

During my recent chemotherapy session, the production of red blood cells in my body decreased significantly, leading to low blood levels. This decrease affected not only my red blood cells but also other aspects of my health, such as my white blood cells and overall immune system. As a result, I unfortunately caught a cold during that particular treatment cycle. Coulier explained this situation.
The comedian mentioned that he had to stay at the hospital for ten consecutive days due to a cold, also noting that he understood the accumulated impact of his chemotherapy treatments would manifest.
In his admission, he acknowledged that he mistakenly thought it was something else rather than recognizing that he was suffering from a cold, and his body wasn’t strong enough to fight it off at the moment.
He acknowledged that it was his wife, Melissa Bring, who encouraged him to seek medical help, despite his initial doubts.
He remembered saying, “Eventually, I was admitted to the hospital for a four-day stay due to intravenous administration of antibiotics to reduce my high temperature. The doctors told me, ‘We’re not sure what’s happening,'” indicating uncertainty about his condition.
He mentioned that the doctors identified several proteins which could potentially signal a ‘large-scale heart attack’, and suggested conducting CAT scans and ultrasounds for further examination.
He shared that, as his immune system began to restore itself slightly, he slowly recovered. On the fifth day, they announced, “Your fever has subsided, you may now return home,” he added.
According to Coulier, they told him, “If you hadn’t waited 48 more hours, things might have turned critical and you could have been in danger.

Earlier, it was disclosed that he communicated his diagnosis to his Full House co-actors through a collective text message.
In this conversation, we have the show’s creator Jeff Franklin along with actors Candace, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, and Scott Weinger participating.
John Stamos, famously known for his role as the cheerful Uncle Joey, played this part on Full House from 1987 to 1995. He reprised this role again in its Netflix follow-up series, Fuller House, which aired from 2016 until 2020.
The actor, born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, chose to personally inform others by sending a text message instead of letting someone else break the news. (He) told People this.
He expressed it as, “There was an outburst of, ‘I’ll make it. Just tell me when, and I have full confidence that you’re under the care of [wife Melissa]. But let’s figure out how we can help.'” This is a simpler way of conveying the original statement, maintaining its essence but using clearer language.
Coulier, known for his work on hit series like Robot Chicken, How I Met Your Mother, and It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, expressed the deep affection within their group, saying, “There’s an incredible amount of love we have for each other.
