Fuerza Regida brings the 'Don't Fall in Love' music festival to San Bernardino

As a lifelong fan of both music and the rich tapestry of Latin American culture, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon learning about Fuerza Regida’s first-ever music festival, Don’t Fall in Love Fest. Having followed their journey from a cover band to becoming one of the most influential groups in música Mexicana, it’s truly heartening to see them bringing their unique blend of tradition and innovation to their hometown of San Bernardino.

Fuerza Regida is bringing it home.

Following years of successive album releases and relentless touring, the renowned Mexican music quintet is organizing its inaugural music festival in its birthplace, San Bernardino. The one-day Don’t Fall in Love Fest, inspired by their latest Billboard-topping jersey corridos project “Pero No Te Enamores,” will gather some of the biggest stars in rap and Mexican music at the Nos Event Center on Nov. 2.

During their ongoing North American tour, this unscheduled stop serves as an exciting blend of two genres – corridos tumbados (a unique combination of trap rhythms and traditional Mexican instruments) and hip-hop. The concert lineup offers a fascinating fusion of modern rappers and local Mexican artists.

Apart from Fuerza Regida, the second main act is Lil Baby, a Grammy-winning rap artist hailing from Atlanta. We’ll reveal our third, mystery headliner on October 7th.

At this festival, two stages will host a vibrant fusion of music acts. You’ll find Luis R Conriquez and Xavi playing Mexican tunes, along with well-known rappers like Kodak Black and Sexyy Red. Additionally, artists from Street Mob (Fuerza Regida’s label), such as Chino Pacas and Clave Especial, are scheduled to perform alongside other rap artists including Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Too Short. Furthermore, Los Rieleros Del Norte, a Norteño sax group, and Mi Banda El Mexicano, pioneers of Tecnobanda, will also showcase their unique contributions to the evolving genre.

This performance is the first time Fuerza Regida has taken the stage in the Inland Empire for six years. Originally starting as a cover band in 2015, their breakthrough hit was the drug-themed corrido “Radicamos en South Central.” Over the following years, they persistently released albums and aligned with the corrido tumbado movement, now boasting 13 albums. On their latest album, “Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada,” released in 2023, they started experimenting more with their corridos tumbados, incorporating an EDM influence, particularly on “Harley Quinn” featuring Marshmello.

In my latest review, I’m diving into “Pero No Te Enamores” by the band that’s blending Jersey Corridos with a mix of EDM beats, high-pitched requinto melodies, and distinctive Mexican horn sounds. This fusion results in some seriously infectious tracks that are hard to shake off. While it’s stirred up some mixed feelings among fans, it still managed to debut at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and an impressive number 2 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

Besides their main show, the band will be performing at Kia Forum on November 15th and 16th, as part of the “No Te Enamores” tour.

Tickets for the Don’t Fall in Love Fest will go on sale Friday.
