Frontman of Iconic 90s Band Hospitalized After Suffering Injury During Live Show
As a devoted fan, I’ve just learned that the charismatic lead singer from one of my favorite ‘90s bands was suddenly taken to the hospital due to a severe mishap that occurred onstage during their performance.
On Monday night, following the completion of their performance at the American venue in Seattle, Washington, lead singer of Travis, Fran Healy, was carried off the stage on a stretcher.
51-year-old Scottish singer believed he might have sprained his ankle in an unusual way, twisting it sideways, when he was giving a wave to the audience and stepping down from the stage.
Later on, it turned out that it was merely a severe ankle sprain, and Fran received medical attention which helped her recover.
On Tuesday, he addressed the concerns of fans on the band’s Instagram Story, explaining the circumstances that led to his hurried exit from the performance.
From his bed, he addressed the camera: “Hello, this is Fran speaking. In case someone observed me being wheeled out of the venue last night on a stretcher and transported in an ambulance, let me clarify that it was due to a severe sprain on my ankle as I awkwardly stepped off the stage.

Initially, as I bid farewell to everyone, something unusual happened – it felt like everything had been turned upside down. Initially, we assumed it was a malfunction, so we rushed to the hospital.
He commented: “Fortunately, it’s only a severely swollen sprain, and I’m wearing these oversized space boots now. When you visit Salt Lake City, you can all have a good chuckle about that.
“Despite any challenges, let’s proceed with the performance. Rest assured, we’ll connect again at this event and throughout the rest of the tour. Right now, I’m alright, just a bit light-headed due to some medication, but otherwise everything is fine.
He ended the clip by saying: ‘Oh yeah, and I’m watching Antiques Roadshow. Bye!’
At present, the band is touring across North America with the Raze The Bar Tour, having started back in January. They’re scheduled to perform once more at the Summit venue in Denver, Colorado on a Wednesday.
In December, Fran astounded regular patrons of the local pub with a spontaneous, impressive performance of one of his band’s most popular songs.
At The Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow, the musician charmed Christmas celebrants with a mesmerizing rendition of his band’s timeless hit “Why Does It Always Rain On Me?” on stage.
At the karaoke event, people were singing in unison to the well-known 1999 song while Fran, known for his vibrant red hair and eyeglasses, engaged with the audience.
On X, previously known as Twitter, the star shared a video clip, labeled: “When you’re at the Horseshoe Bar past 9pm… and they play your track…

On the day preceding the band’s show at The Hydro on Saturday, December 21st, it was scheduled during their tour.
Travis uploaded a video onto Instagram, accompanied by this message: “Experiencing a moment at @horseshoe_glasgow after 9pm when your tune plays…Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at the Hydro for our LAST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR!!! Let’s gooooooo!!! Don’t forget your Santa hats.
In the late ’90s and early 2000s, the renowned Scottish rock band gained momentum, with popular songs such as “Sing,” “Side,” “Flowers in the Window,” and “Driftwood” propelling them to success.
Since their peak period, they have persisted in producing music and selling albums. However, they haven’t quite recaptured the same degree of success they experienced during the late 1990s.
And Travis looks worlds away from his appearance during the band’s heyday.
In the throes of fandom, I can’t help but marvel at the transformation of my idol. Once iconic for his mohawk and baker boy caps, he’s now sporting a vibrant orange mane and eye-catching spectacles that perfectly align with the band’s recent music release and their grand return to the spotlight last year.
As a die-hard admirer of this duo, boasting two Brit Awards and an impressive sales figure surpassing 10 million records, I can’t say I’d fault fellow fans for being taken aback by the fresh appearance of the member they know as Fran.
Ever since they were at the peak of their fame, I’ve been a die-hard fan of Travis, and it seems like my admiration for them has only grown stronger over time! Can you believe it? They’re still making music and selling records! And guess what? Their latest album, L.A. Times, dropped on July 12, 2024 – talk about a fantastic surprise! I just can’t wait to immerse myself in their new tunes!
