Katie Leung, who portrayed Cho Chang at Hogwarts, has swapped her academic Ravenclaw robe for a sophisticated ballgown instead.
spectators were initially introduced to the Dundee-native actress, portraying Lady Araminta Gao in the Netflix show Bridgerton for the first time.
In the image, she dons a fancy black gown and masks her gaze with a black mask from a masquerade ball, embodying the elegance fitting for an aristocrat, undeniably making her presence known in the newest adaptation of this period piece.
In a new role, Leung portrays an aristocrat, who has been married and widowed twice, and is now introducing her two daughters, Rosamund Li (played by Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (played by Isabella Wei), to potential wealthy suitors in the hopes of securing a prosperous future for them.
In this show, we’ll trace the romantic journey of Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, along with Lady Araminta’s efforts to match one of her daughters with him.
In conversation about her recent character, Leung acknowledged that some Harry Potter fans may struggle with the idea of her portraying a mother to teenage girls, given that she is just 37 years old in reality.
Leung stated to Refinery29, “During the Regency period, marriages often occurred in a woman’s teenage years. Given this context, it’s entirely reasonable for me to have been a teenager as well.
As a lifestyle expert, I wouldn’t label her as ‘evil,’ but rather appreciate her cunningness – it’s simply fascinating! She’s far from ordinary, and that’s what makes her so captivatingly fabulous.
‘She’s just heavily misunderstood.’
It’s equally apparent that the costumes used in the show have been a significant advantage for Leung, as she subtly suggests her character boasts an exceptional eye for fashion.
She mentioned: ‘As for what I can comment, it’s undeniably the costumes. On that program, they’re consistently impressive, yet hers stand out exceptionally.’
