From season 3 episode 3 recap: 'Mouse Trap' delivers a truly chilling ending

Ah, dear gamer friends, if you thought the chilling mysteries of Fromville were starting to unravel, think again! This week’s episode was a rollercoaster ride of suspense, terror, and a dash of intrigue that left me on the edge of my seat.

In the eerie town from “From,” things seem to be deteriorating continually, but this week brings a glimmer of optimism as Kenny and Jim stumbled upon an abundance of edible crops. For now, it appears that people will not have to endure the hardship of starvation.

After the harrowing event of my mother’s murder, I decided to take action by gathering a team to venture into the woods in search of additional supplies. Jade, Kristi, and several other residents agreed to join me on this expedition. However, things took a turn for the worse when Jade started arguing with another guy during our journey, causing him to angrily march off into the forest for a moment’s peace.

But the whole thing turns out to be a hallucination. Not that that makes Jade feel any better. If anything, it makes things worse. He becomes determined to get out of there, return to town, and keep working on his various clues. Kristi and Kenny try to stop Jade from leaving since it’s late, and they’d be better off spending the night in the safety of the log cabins with their talismans, but Jade won’t hear it. He only stops when Kristi gets hurt, chasing after Jade and accidentally stepping directly into a hidden bear trap.

In simpler terms, Jade and another villager are compelled to destroy some spooky figures set up around the border for a required stick to help them rescue Kristi. After they manage to free her, the men transport her back to their camp. For a split second, Jade encounters his hallucination again, which certainly doesn’t seem positive.

Bad omens at Colony House

In this current episode, much like before, we witness Tillie finding Tillie indulging in the compost heap, as she seems to be the only one able to soothe her queasy pregnancy by consuming those decayed vegetables.

Instead of passing judgment on her, Tillie shares some guidance with Fatima. Pregnancy has strange effects on a woman’s body, as Tillie herself experienced during her pregnancy when she suddenly craved eggshells for a period. However, she explains to Fatima that these odd cravings will eventually fade away. To offer her comfort and reassurance, Tillie proposes to perform a tarot card reading for Fatima, giving her additional confidence that her baby is healthy.

Fatima takes offense at the suggestion, feeling as though Tillie is manipulating her, but in truth, she sincerely thinks the advice can be beneficial. However, their discussion is abruptly halted when a large bird, either a raven or a crow, smashes through the window of a Colony House, soars to the opposite side, crashes into another window, and then falls to the floor, injured and lifeless, leaving behind a pool of blood.

Tabitha and Henry return to Fromville in a chilling cliffhanger ending

Upon unearthing the paintings in Henry’s cellar, I spent the entire night immersed in them, hoping to uncover a secret or clue that could shed light on the town where my family remains captive. As we conversed, I picked up on the sound of clinking glass, which prompted Henry to bring up a bottle tree. The mention of it sent a jolt through me, as I remembered the bottle tree from Fromville and begged him to guide me there. To my surprise, this wasn’t the same one I had encountered before.

However, Henry points out that the tree they’re looking at is just a copy of the original one, situated in another town. Instantly, Tabitha insists on visiting the actual tree, wanting to see it personally. Jumping into the car, they embark on their journey. During the ride, Tabitha stumbles upon Henry’s glovebox and recognizes a familiar bracelet – the one she crafted for Jim that mysteriously reappeared at the local diner. Henry explains that his late wife owned this very bracelet. At this point, Tabitha is puzzled – how could this bracelet surface right here and now?

As I’m cruising down this road, a strange thought creeps in – could this world be just another level of Fromville? Could Henry himself be part of it? The notion sends a shiver down my spine, and I urgently ask him to halt the vehicle. But he insists we press on. Our disagreement escalates into a heated argument, leading us straight into an accident.

Upon regaining consciousness, Tabitha finds herself in an ambulance receiving care from paramedics, with Henry lying unconscious next to her. Suddenly, the ambulance comes to a halt due to a fallen tree blocking the way…it appears that somehow the ambulance has miraculously transported Tabitha back to Fromville. At least now, Henry can finally meet Victor, can’t he?

Boyd is on a new mission

In this episode, Boyd plays a supporting role in the main events, yet he shares with his son, Ellis, and Donna a fresh strategy for handling the monsters. His idea is to capture one, not simply to eliminate it, but to make an attempt at getting it to communicate genuinely and provide accurate information. Ellis and Donna find this plan to be rather absurd, but Boyd strongly defends his perspective.

As situations continue to deteriorate, it’s time for them to take a proactive approach and gather more information. Desperate for any action, he approaches Randall on his bus. This encounter is further complicated by Randall experiencing a hallucination of insect swarms within the bus, which adds to the ominous atmosphere. In light of these strange occurrences, Boyd proposes a temporary accommodation swap – Boyd will take over the bus while Randall stays at the sheriff’s office. This way, Boyd can keep watch for any approaching threats during the night. However, instead, Randall suggests helping Boyd capture one of those mysterious things themselves.
