From season 3: Does the latest Tabitha reveal make sense? Let’s do the math
As a die-hard fan of From, who has spent countless sleepless nights dissecting every frame and line of dialogue, I can confidently say that the latest twist is nothing short of mind-blowing! The revelation that Tabitha might be Miranda reincarnated has set the fandom ablaze with theories and discussions.
Major spoilers ahead for From season 3 up to episode 9
Chapter One,” seems to suggest that Tabitha and Miranda might be one and the same individual.
In a heartwarming scene, Tabitha embraces Victor, which instantly transports us back to a poignant memory. Here, we witness Miranda bidding farewell to her kids, including a young Victor and Eloise, as she ventures into the forest with hopes of finding a distant tree for an escape. However, fate had other plans for Miranda, as the ominous figure known as “Smiley” intervened, ultimately taking her life.
Although the script doesn’t explicitly state that Tabitha and Miranda are the same individual, there are strong hints suggesting this. It seems unlikely for Tabitha to have visions of Miranda’s last moments if they were not somehow connected. Since Tabitha’s previous visions have only involved herself and her ties to the town, it makes sense that she’s experiencing Miranda’s perspective because they share a genuine connection, possibly implying that they are one and the same.
Additionally, it would clarify why Henry possessed a similar bracelet to the one crafted by Tabitha for Jim, as his counterpart from the past, Miranda, had created an identical one for Henry.
But does the math make sense? I believe it does.
The series debuted in 2022, suggesting it is set during contemporary times or possibly in that year. Tabitha seems to be approximately 40 years old. Miranda passed away around the late 1970s at about 30 years old. Victor, who has lived in town for over 40 years, is now roughly in his 50s. Thus, it’s accurate to conclude that the timeline adds up. After Miranda’s death, Tabitha was born, leading to speculation that she could be a reincarnation of Miranda. This explains why Tabitha eventually returns to the town; it was her destiny to do so.
If that’s indeed the case, it would make sense that other characters in the story could be reborn versions of people from the past as well. It’s possible that many of the townspeople Victor knew and lost during his childhood have returned without Victor’s knowledge. Some fans speculate that Jade, who is around 40 like Christopher, might be a reincarnation of an old character. Could Donna and Boyd also be reborn souls? This theory challenges everything we thought we understood about the town. If Boyd is reincarnated, perhaps the motive behind the monsters’ relentless torment of him is connected to his previous identity, explaining why they target him specifically.
It’s also tough not to compare this to the show Dark, a show where virtually everyone is a different version of someone else, but that gets super complicated fast.
Hopefully we’ll get more definitive answers in the season 3 finale airing this Sunday, November 24.
