From Karl Stefanovic and Abbie Chatfield to Kyle and Jackie All the famous faces who made shock decision to snub 2024 Logie Awards
As a dedicated follower of Australian television and its glamorous events like the Logie Awards, I must admit that this year’s ceremony left me with mixed feelings. While it was delightful to see familiar faces such as Ada Nicodemou, James Stewart, Sonia Kruger, and Larry Emdur grace the red carpet, it seemed that a significant number of A-List stars were missing.
The prestigious Australian Logie Awards ceremony took place in Sydney on a Sunday, attracting an array of top-tier celebrities who came together to commemorate their remarkable achievements in television.
Stars like Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart from “Home and Away”, Sonia Kruger, and Larry Emdur, a recipient of the Gold Logie, were among those who graced the glittering event.
In my perspective, there were quite a few conspicuous omissions at the event, leaving many wondering about the whereabouts of Karl Stefanovic (Today show host), Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson (radio personalities), and Abbie Chatfield (reality TV host).
On August 12, Stefanovic marked his 50th birthday by skipping the event because he previously arranged to celebrate it in Sydney, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.
Initially, the host of FBoy Island, Abbie Chatfield, aged 29, shared that her absence was unexpectedly due to a surprising cause.
She informed Yahoo Lifestyle that she won’t be attending because she dislikes working without pay and finds it excessively complicated. With her boyfriend arriving home soon, she’s likely to have dinner at home instead.
On air, radio personalities Kyle Sandilands (age 53) and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson (age 49), typically known for their presence, were conspicuously missing. Later, it was revealed by Kyle himself on his morning show that he had opted to skip the day due to a lack of motivation.
On the Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM, he admitted that he felt too tired or unmotivated to participate this time, as he had chosen to stay home and look after his young son instead of attending the ceremony last year.
As a diehard fan, I couldn’t help but notice that some familiar faces were missing from this exclusive gathering. Stars like the thrice-crowned Gold Logie winner, Daryl Somers, along with Channel Nine veterans Eddie McGuire, Tracy Grimshaw, and Sylvia Jefferies were surprisingly absent.
As an over-the-moon fanboy, I can’t help but share my excitement about Sam Pant’s recent playful jab during this year’s event! Remember last year when Somers made those hilarious comments about an ‘auction’ for a Logie award? Well, old man Pant didn’t forget! He cleverly took a swipe at that joke of his, adding another layer of humor to the already electrifying atmosphere. What a legend!
In a playful manner, Australian TV icon Daryl Somers pretended to sell the Gold statue to the seven nominees, as stated by Sam.
I’ve been involved in organizing auctions for many years now, and let me tell you, last year’s event was one for the books! We started off with a live auction, which is always exciting and engaging, but as the evening wore on, things took an unexpected turn. The live auction ended up transitioning into a silent auction, and it wasn’t nearly as successful. This year, we won’t be repeating that mistake. We’ll stick to a traditional format where items are auctioned off one at a time in a live setting, giving everyone a chance to participate actively and make the most of their bids. That way, we can ensure a more lively and fruitful event for all involved.
In other places, it was reported that some stars from Married At First Sight felt ‘disappointed’ or ‘let down’ when they weren’t asked to attend the private, high-profile event on the red carpet.
2021’s exceptional event culminated with Larry Emdur, a presenter from Channel Seven, receiving the prestigious Gold Logie award, which recognizes the Most Popular Personality on Australian TV.
At the Logies event held in Sydney, the Morning Show host amused the audience by jesting about the numerous times his shows were canceled throughout the years and the assortment of unconventional hosting roles he’s taken on.
In a remarkable feat, New Zealand actress Rebecca Gibney bagged the TV Week Hall of Fame Award, marking a significant milestone.
