Hey there, fellow gaming enthusiasts! Get ready to level up your TV game this week! I’ve got some pulse-pounding new shows lined up for you. First off, grab your popcorn for “Vigil,” a nail-biting Netflix drama that stars Suranne Jones.
But wait, it doesn’t end there! This week’s recommendations also include Tom Cullen from “The Gold” teaming up with Erin Richards from “The Crown” in an edgy and raw crime series. It’s not just another genre flick; this one promises a fresh, exciting twist that you wouldn’t want to miss!
As a passionate viewer, I’m excited to share my weekly recommendations! The list features a captivating sci-fi series making its comeback and a fresh animated show created by the genius behind BoJack Horseman. Let’s jump right in – here are this week’s must-watch picks starting from Monday, 18th August.

Mudtown
In this gripping legal drama, Erin Richards from “The Crown” takes center stage as Claire Lewis Jones, a seasoned Magistrate whose world is turned upside down when the notorious criminal figure Saint Pete, portrayed by Tom Cullen from “The Gold,” makes a comeback.
In the current phase of Claire’s life, an old link seems poised to stir up problems due to its potentially troubling nature. Her concerns about her daughter dating a questionable character add fuel to the fire. As the six-episode series, penned by Hannah Daniel (Keeping Faith), progresses, Claire uncovers a complex network of illicit activities that could jeopardize the safety of her entire family.
In this gripping crime series, you’ll find Matthew Gravelle from Broadchurch, Sion Pritchard known for his work in Doctor Who, Lauren Morais starring in The Red King, and Gareth John Bale famed for Steeltown Murders.
Mudtown is available to watch from 20 August on U&Alibi.

Long Story Short
The makers behind BoJack Horseman are bringing a new adult-oriented animated series, focusing on the lives of the Schwooper family’s three siblings.
The narrative alternates between the intricate adult phase and the quarrelsome childhood of these siblings, depicting their highs and lows, navigating family discord, heartbreaking setbacks, and moments of happiness.
Long Story Short is available to watch from 22 August on Netflix.

Hostage
In this imaginative dramatic production, Suranne Jones plays the role of British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton, who faces an extraordinarily challenging situation when her husband goes missing. Simultaneously, French President Vivienne Toussain, portrayed by Julie Delpy, encounters her own hardships as she is embroiled in a troubling extortion plot.
In a stark turn of events, these two influential politicians find themselves locked in a bitter competition, yet they’re compelled to collaborate not only to safeguard the lives of the blameless, but also to secure their own political destinies.
Hostage is available to watch from 20 August on Netflix.

Peacemaker, season 2
In the second season of the show titled “Peacemaker,” action star John Cena reappears, donning the role of the enigmatic vigilante.
In the most recent addition, Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, also known as Peacemaker, grapples with aligning his questionable past with a freshly found mission, all while persisting in dispensing righteous justice to wrongdoers, albeit unconventionally, in his relentless pursuit of peace no matter the cost.
Starting from August 21st in the United States, or August 22nd for viewers in other regions, you can stream Peacemaker season 2 on HBO (US) and Sky as well as NOW TV.

Fisk, season 3
In the United Kingdom, the third season of Fisk is now available on ITVX. This week, it will also be added to Netflix. The character played by Kitty Flanagan, Helen, finds herself in a more challenging position as she’s been made a partner at Gruber & Fisk.
Difficulties ensue as Ray (Marty Sheargold) gets sidetracked by a fresh romance, while Roz’s (Julia Zemiro) wavering self-assurance disrupts her work. It now falls on Helen to rectify the situation, but can she handle it?
Fisk is available to watch from 20 August on Netflix.

Invasion, season 3
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that after a hiatus of approximately two years, the much-loved sci-fi horror series “Invasions” is set to return! This show, which left us all hanging with those nerve-wracking cliffhangers, will finally bring us back together. Can’t wait to dive back into this exciting universe!
In the third season of this series, we’ll delve into an extraterrestrial attack seen through different global viewpoints. The tension ramps up with unexpected turns and revelations as the menace escalates, introducing fresh and formidable beings to the mix.
What chance does humanity have to survive? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Invasion season 3 is available to watch from 22 August on Apple TV+.
