Friends star’s British spy show is now on Netflix

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more than a few sitcoms in his time, I must say that “Intelligence” is a refreshing blend of humor and intrigue that has captured my attention. The British spy comedy, starring the legendary David Schwimmer and the hilarious Nick Mohammed, is a testament to their comedic prowess.

The British spy comedy featuring David Schwimmer from “Friends” and Nick Mohammed of “Ted Lasso” has been made accessible for streaming on Netflix.

In simple terms, “Intelligence” is an office comedy series produced by comedian Mohammed, which centers around Jerry Bernstein, played by Schwimmer, who works for the American NSA. When Jerry is tasked with serving as a liaison to the cyber crimes unit of the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters, he stirs up quite a bit of excitement and intrigue.

Jerry swiftly manages to irritate his colleagues, particularly the team leader, by charging headstrong into the department with his overbearing character.

The show titled “Intelligence” made its debut in February 2020, and the second season was released in June 2021. An exceptional episode featuring Jennifer Saunders was broadcasted in May 2023.

The performance marked the Friends actor’s second shot at a comic, intellectually challenging character, as he had declined the offer to lead in Men in Black during the 90s.

Back in September, I had the pleasure of joining Cush Jumbo on her podcast, Origins. During our chat, I opened up about a significant decision I made in my career – choosing to direct my first film over taking on the Men in Black role. Instead of joining the MIB team, I opted for the director’s chair and brought the 1998 romantic comedy Since You’ve Been Gone to life.

He elaborated, “[It] was a difficult choice I had to make.” Fresh off the set of his inaugural movie with Gwyneth Paltrow in “The Pallbearer”, anticipation ran high, but the outcome didn’t meet those expectations.

Although it had some explosive potential, the project had significant hype surrounding it. The studio, Miramax, was eager to secure a three-film contract with me at a set price, which I agreed to only if I were allowed to direct my initial film.

Regardless of Schwimmer believing that a role in the hit movie could have significantly altered his professional path, he expresses no regrets.

“You have to follow your gut. You have to follow your heart,” he concluded.

Intelligence is available to watch on Sky and Netflix.
