Friends star Michael Rapaport SLAMMED for posting ‘AI-generated’ image of concentration camps
Actor Michael Rapaport encountered backlash when it was found out that the Holocaust-themed image he shared on Facebook was actually false.
On Saturday, the seasoned actor, aged 55, shared a photograph on Facebook that portrayed a musician playing a violin in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
In a report by Mediate, it was mentioned that Rapaport, known for his roles in movies like True Romance, Higher Learning, and Deep Blue Sea, received approximately 9,900 likes and 1,200 shares on the shared image. However, it appears that he later chose to take down this image.
On the next day, the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum, situated in Poland, criticized the image as a ‘dangerous misrepresentation’ of truth.
The museum expressed on their Facebook page that sharing misleading or AI-created images depicting Holocaust victims is disrespectful and disturbs their memory. They recommended that if you come across such posts, refrain from re-sharing them.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting any news from my beloved actor, so when I heard about this intriguing story, I just had to dig deeper! I reached out to him personally through Instagram and also contacted his representative to get the inside scoop on the latest developments in this captivating tale.
The museum recommends checking out their pages where each name, picture, and story is thoroughly historically researched and truthfully presented with great care.
A number of commenters commended the museum for setting the record straight on the topic.
One user expressed gratitude for standing up against efforts to turn genuine historical pain into a public show.
The commenter stated that the event is not merely disregardful towards the victims, it also poses a risk to historical accuracy. This is due to the blending of factual history with fiction and imaginative elements, which can unwittingly transform it into a narrative rather than a collection of verified facts.
Another user remarked, Thank you for fighting for the voiceless in all of this.
Artistic communities are grappling with the significant impact of AI, a challenge akin to a persistent pestilence. It’s disheartening to see AI encroach upon real-life tragedies, stripping humans of their essential humanity in some instances, even twice in certain cases.

Another expressed concern: “It seems I’m losing confidence in humanity these days. Despite AI being our future, we must not forget the lessons from our past.
In 1999, during the fifth season of the popular NBC sitcom “Friends,” Rapaport portrayed Gary, a police officer who had a romantic relationship with Phoebe, played by Lisa Kudrow, for four episodes.
He made an appearance in a total of four shows, namely “The One Featuring the Cop,” “The One Where Rachel Unintentionally Kisses,” “The One on the Road Trip,” and “The One with the Ball Game.
