Friends star Lisa Kudrow’s British adaptation cancelled after 1 season

As a gamer with a soft spot for both time-travel tales and quirky comedies, I must confess that my heart sank when I heard about the cancellation of Lisa Kudrow’s latest series, “Time Bandits.” Having grown up watching her as Phoebe Buffay on “Friends,” I was thrilled to see her venture into a new realm.

Friends star Lisa Kudrow’s recent series Time Bandits has been cancelled after one season.

The Apple TV+ series that mirrors the 1981 film with the same title made its grand entrance on the platform in July.

According to Deadline, it appears that the streamer has chosen not to proceed with a second season because of low viewership ratings.

In the story, a band of robbers find themselves on a thrilling journey, aiming to assist a young boy in rescuing his parents.

As they journey through both time and space, the team encounters captivating ancient worlds in search of riches. In every predicament, it’s Kevin who provides insights and solutions.

As a gamer, I’d journey through time in this epic adventure, catching glimpses of history unfolding before my eyes. I’d be there when Stonehenge was born, witness the Trojan War firsthand, dodge dinosaurs in the prehistoric era, stir up trouble during the Middle Ages, feel the chill of the Ice Age, explore ancient civilizations, and even catch a glimpse of the Harlem Renaissance – and that’s just the beginning!

The show additionally featured actors like Kal-El Tuck from “Unseeing Evil”, Tadhg Murphy known for “Conversations with Friends”, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva hailing from “You Don’t Know Me”, Rune Temte recognized for “Eddie the Eagle”, Charlyne Yi well-known in “Knocked Up”, and Rachel House, who made a name for herself in “Heartbreak High”.

The movie “Time Bandits” is jointly developed by the creative minds behind Marvel, specifically Taika Waititi, as well as Jemaine Clement from “Avatar,” and Iain Morris known for “The Inbetweeners.” All three also appear in the film in cameo roles.

In our review of the show in Digital Spy, we noted that Taika Waititi’s adaptation of the 1981 cult film has potential. To truly shine, it should explore its characters more deeply and amplify its own quirks for a funnier, more humorous experience.

Time Bandits is available to stream now on Apple TV+. Friends streams on Netflix in the UK, where it also airs daily on Comedy Central. In the US, you can stream the show on Max.
