Friends spin-off announced to celebrate show’s 30th anniversary
As a die-hard Friends fan who’s seen every episode at least ten times and can recite Ross’s dinosaur speech without missing a beat, this news about Fast Friends has me jumping for joy faster than Ross could say “unagi.” I’ve been dreaming of a chance to immerse myself even deeper into the world of Central Perk since the day they took down the stage set in 2004.
An unexpected Friends spin-off is coming in time for the show’s 30th anniversary.
American streamer Max is funding a four-episode competition series titled “Fast Friends ” to find the most dedicated super-fan of the popular TV show “Friends“.
The show will be recorded at “The Friends Experience: The One in New York City,” where participants will engage in challenges on a reproduction of the famous TV series’ set.
A 17,000-square-foot imitation of the “Friends” TV show set is going to offer trivia quizzes, engaging puzzles, and various games that let participants dash through some iconic spots from the beloved sitcom, competing against each other.
An official synopsis reveals: “Fast Friends, a new four-part game show, will take place in the celebrated series’ iconic sets in a fast-paced competition event.
Experience a thrill as you dash through the apartments of Rachel and Monica, sprint across Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad, and stop for a brew at Central Perk. Relive cherished moments while tackling trivia, riddles, and games designed to challenge even the most dedicated Friends enthusiasts!
The team that finishes first will be crowned as the “Ultimate Fans’ Favorite.
The show shares characteristics with the quiz competition that Max unveiled to mark the 20-year milestone of the Harry Potter movie series a couple of years back.
The classic sitcom “Friends” will mark its 30-year milestone on September 22, 1994, by unveiling a 4K remastering as part of the festivities.
This week, the entire series of “Friends” was made available, including all episodes, plus an additional 20 hours of special content. In this compilation, viewers will find a wealth of behind-the-scenes footage, talk shows, extended episodes, and other extras to enjoy.
In 2021, the Friends cast got together again for a reunion, this time for a special documentary moderated by James Corden. Notable fans like Justin Bieber, David Beckham, Lady Gaga, and others were also part of the show.
Tragically, Friends original cast member Matthew Perry died in September 2023 at age 54.
The show “F” is available for streaming on Netflix in the United Kingdom and plays every day on Comedy Central there. In the United States, it can be streamed on Max.
