Fresh blow for Prince Harry as charity chief quits

Last year marked the departure of advertising guru Johnny Hornby from the Duke of Sussex’s organization, where he served as a trustee for eleven years, with the last five in the role of chairman. This recent development represents another setback for the duke’s foundation.

Last month, The Mail on Sunday disclosed that Andrew Tucker, whom Harry affectionately calls ‘Tucks’, had stepped down from his senior position at Sentebale after almost a decade.

In yet another step indicating Harry and his spouse, Meghan, distancing themselves from Britain, it has been announced that the current CEO of Sentebale, based in London, will be the last one. Sentebale is a charity that translates to ‘forget me not’ in Sesotho.

According to the statement from the charity, they have appointed Carmel Gaillard as the temporary head, replacing Miller who is 62 years old. Originating from Johannesburg, South Africa, Carmel Gaillard has been tasked with implementing a strategic overhaul within the organization for the sake of its transformation.

The focus has shifted from aiding youth and children impacted by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, to tackling a wider range of topics such as youth health, income disparities, and building climate resilience.

In their joint statement, Princes Harry and Seeiso express that this change aligns with their ongoing dedication to being influenced by local voices within the region they cater to. They extend their gratitude to Richard for playing a crucial part in guiding our organization towards this significant transformation.

In simpler terms, Miller suggests that it’s a smart move for Sentebale to transition towards local leadership, and the current moment seems perfect for this change. Carmel is a valuable resource to help Sentebale establish itself more prominently as a regional leader.

In my perspective, while Vogue is cautious in its critique of the movie, it seems that both Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who played pivotal roles, have been overlooked in the review.
