Story Highlights

  • The update brings the new character Nero, Flame Arena, new Winchester weapon, multiple balance adjustments, and more.
  • The revamped Loadout system arrives on October 29, replacing the old eight with four new ones.

Garena has just announced the Free Fire OB51 update, launching on October 29th! This update includes a brand new character and weapon, along with changes to existing characters, new modes like Flame Arena and Craftland, weapon adjustments, and other exciting content. Let’s take a look at the details!

Free Fire OB51 update: Key Highlights

Introducing Nero, the latest Character

This update introduces Nero, an incredible character who survived a deadly freeze and now has the power to control dreams. His special ability, Dreamsmith, creates an area that stops enemies from using Gloo Walls and continuously damages anyone caught inside, making them come out of hiding.

You can also deal additional damage, hinder enemies, and even knock them off balance. With Cryo Mind, you can throw a durable plushie with 150 HP that remains active for 12 seconds. This plushie flies over obstacles, automatically targets the closest enemy, and then explodes, creating a special area.

Okay, so inside this area, neither I nor the other team can use Gloo Walls. But here’s the catch – my opponents constantly take damage, a little bit every second, until someone destroys the plushie. And when the plushie does get destroyed, whoever did it gets marked for a few seconds, making them an easy target! It’s a risky play, but potentially super rewarding.

Flame Arena

The brand-new Flame Arena is here, adding a fun challenge to Battle Royale and Clash Squad! In Battle Royale, you’ll be given a team banner that flies overhead. Your goal? Destroy the other teams’ banners by defeating them.

I really enjoy the new in-match announcer; it’s great how they highlight team eliminations and important events. Plus, as the match goes on, the Flame Zone takes the place of the usual Out-of-Zone, and a Flame Trophy appears in the sky, showcasing the banners of all the teams still in the game.

Clash Squad now features random team banners, and when a team is about to win, a special ‘Flame Zone’ and ‘Flame Trophy’ will appear. You’ll also enjoy the updated CS Store with a Flame Arena theme, a new spawn area, special ‘Cyber Airdrops’, and a cool new flame effect when you win (Booyah animation).

Craftland

We have some exciting news for creators! The Craftland Creator Center is now available. It allows you to easily manage your accounts, publish maps to different servers and regions, and track important data like map performance and storage space.

This update also includes the Performance Editor, a robust tool for creating captivating story performances. You’ll have detailed control over timing and elements like objects and sound effects. And be sure to explore Craftland – it’s packed with helpful resources!

New Loadout System

On October 29th, we’re releasing a redesigned Loadout system! It replaces the existing eight loadouts with four new options in both Battle Royale and Clash Squad: Team Booster, Enhance Hammer, Tactical Market, and Super Leg Pockets.

Character Adjustments in Free Fire OB51 update

Okay, so the new OB51 update really shook things up with some of my favorite characters. They tweaked Ford, and his Iron Will ability isn’t quite as strong for healing as it used to be – definitely a nerf. And they also dialed back Kairos a bit, reducing the damage his Defense Breaker skill does to shields and armor. It’s not a huge change, but noticeable for sure.

Rin’s Kunai will now be more powerful, with increased speed and damage. Several other characters – Ignis, Santino, Tatsuya, and Thiva – have also been adjusted. Plus, the game now displays skill and device cooldowns.

New Weapon, Adjustments, and more in Free Fire OB51 update

New Weapon: Winchester

So, the update dropped a new rifle – the Winchester! It’s a marksman rifle that fires in a two-round burst, which is pretty cool. It’s super mobile too, making it awesome for picking off enemies from a distance. The reload is kinda unique – it’s partial, so you don’t have to wait for a full reload every time. Plus, you can upgrade it using damage boosts and Upgrade Chips, which is always a good thing!

Optimization for Upgradeable Weapons

The new update includes changes to weapons. Upgradeable weapons will now have two progression paths – one based on damage and another on chips. Their overall power and how they gain stats are also being tweaked. Specifically, the M60, FAMAS, M14, M4A1, SCAR, AUG, MAC10, MP5, M1014, and Kar98k can all be upgraded.

HP Loss after Knockdown Adjustment

We’ve made a few changes to improve fairness and balance. Now, how long you’re vulnerable after being knocked down depends on the weapon used by the player who knocked you. We’ve also made it faster to crawl while knocked, but equipping Rafael won’t change how much health you lose.

Weapon Balance Adjustments

The Parafal rifle is now more powerful and has improved accuracy. The Thompson SMG will also be dropping from airdrops, and its upgraded version, the Thompson-X, is now available to find in the game.

Several weapons, including the SCAR and SCAR-1, are getting improvements. However, the Mini Uzi pistol is being adjusted to be more balanced – its accuracy will be slightly reduced in the next update.

Battle Royale and Map Adjustments in Free Fire OB51 update

Battle Royale Updates

  • Loot Distribution Adjustments: They’re being adjusted so that everyone can enjoy steady gear growth instead of finding top-tier gear too quickly. You can find various changes in Air Drops, War Chests, Vending Machines, Revival Weapons, and other loot distribution stuff via the official post.
  • Advanced Revival Point: The new Advanced Revival Point will now provide you with the benefits of the Super Revival Card, including treasure chests with extra rewards.
  • Upgradable Arsenal: You can soon get even better loot by spending coins to upgrade the arsenal. Plus, both standard and Defense Arsenals are upgradable.
  • Waypoint Feature: A new waypoint feature is coming with this patch, which will add a route-marking option on the mini-map. It lets you set up three waypoints.
  • Weapon Rack: From this update onwards, fixed Weapon racks are available in every area.
  • Gloo Mushroom: By interacting with the new Gloo Mushroom, you can rapidly increase your Gloo Wall regeneration speed.
  • Gloo UAV-Lite: You can now use the new Gloo UAV-Lite to increase the durability of your walls, making them harder to break.

Map Changes

The Solara map, originally added in the 8th anniversary update, has been updated with several changes. These include new tent designs with two entrances, redesigned high-ground areas, and adjustments to slide rail speed in the Hub area of CS mode, among other improvements.

We’ve also made several other improvements, including more precise landings with the Launch Pad, removed the Hitmarker setting, better feedback when you get a headshot, changes to the CS Store, price updates, improvements to Lone Wolf mode, and other fixes. For a complete list of changes, please see the official announcement.

Other system updates

Okay, so the game got a bunch of cool updates! Now you can play in portrait mode, which is awesome for streaming, and customize how your character looks by hiding your backpack, weapons, and even your pets. They also added emotes that work both when you’re in a match and just hanging out in the menus. But the biggest thing for me is the new tournament system! You can find it in the Esports section and sign up for all sorts of competitions. I’m definitely checking that out!

We’ve added even more improvements! These include a customizable HUD, a page recommending V-Badge presets, custom rooms and recruitment features for Social Island, various Fairgame optimizations, and new content for the 2026 ranked season, plus other exciting additions.
