Freddy’s Next Victim in Smoke Episode 3: Who Will It Be?

In the third episode of Smoke titled ‘Smoke’, there’s a subtle hint about Freddy’s potential future victim as he prepares for another fire. Since other characters don’t know it yet, viewers understand that Freddy is one of the two arsonists being pursued by Dave and Michelle. These individuals are targeting people who seem content with their lives.

This stems primarily from Freddy’s dissatisfaction with his role as a cook at Coop’s, a fictional fast food chain known for its chicken dishes. Towards the end of episode 2 of ‘Smoke’, he seems to be aiming for a managerial post, even getting a new haircut. However, the crime TV show subtly hints at his next target during his first job interview.

Freddy Didn’t Get The Management Job At Coop’s

Despite His Efforts, He Wasn’t Qualified For The Position

In the second episode, I devoted a significant chunk of my time gearing up for the management interview at Coop’s. My colleagues and Brenda, one of my valued patrons, offered me their support, with Brenda even taking the time to give me a haircut before the big day. However, the series hinted early on that securing this job wouldn’t be an easy feat for me.

When he steps into the interviewer’s office, he responds to all questions in an unstructured manner, which is evident by his repetition of generic comments about the company, leaving the interviewer with doubts about his suitability for the role. The story concludes with Freddy failing to advance to the next round of interviews, consistently checking his emails, waiting for a possible opportunity.

In the TV series called “Smoke“, while many aspects are based on real-life occurrences, the tragic tale of Freddy is an original creation. This makes his struggles both touching and tinged with sadness; he elicits sympathy due to his hardships, but also vents his pain by causing harm to innocents. The show plans to delve further into this complex character in future episodes, as it appears one victim has already been identified.

Freddy’s Frustration Might Lead Him To Target His Interviewer

Dave & Michelle Might Be Getting Another Lead On The Serial Arsonist

During the interview, Freddy notices a picture of the interviewer with their family, all grinning widely. Apparently, they had taken this photo during their vacation, which stood in stark contrast to the monotonous, stressful work environment that Freddy is subjected to daily. Since Freddy preys on those who are content, the interviewer could potentially be his next target.

If the interviewer turns out to be Freddy, Dave might be able to catch him sooner using a sketch of Freddy from his past arson cases. In other words, this could potentially expedite the capture of an arsonist. However, whether or not this happens depends on Freddy’s actions in committing his next crime and the extent of the damage he causes upon choosing his next target.
