Freddie Highmore set to return to TV with role in thriller series The Assassin - after wrapping on The Good Doctor

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for spotting promising projects and a deep appreciation for the craft of acting, I am thoroughly excited about Freddie Highmore‘s next venture into the world of television. His impressive career trajectory, which began as a child star and has flourished into a versatile adult actor, is truly inspiring.

After completing “The Good Doctor” for its seven seasons on ABC, Freddie Highmore has secured his first acting job post that project.

Since 2017, the British actor has starred as Dr. Sean Murphy in a medical drama. Now, he’s poised to take on a new role – that of Edward, whose mother, Julie (played by Keeley Hawes), is a retired assassin. This upcoming Amazon Prime thriller is titled “The Assassin.”

In TV Line’s account, the plot revolves around Julie, who currently resides in isolation on a distant Greek isle. Alongside her, her long-estranged child is investigating the mysteries of their father and Julie’s past history.

Ultimately, they both find themselves facing peril as the ex-assassin’s past returns to threaten her, forcing the newly formed mother-and-son pair into a desperate flight for safety.

The production of the forthcoming series, masterminded by Harry and Jack Williams, kicked off as recently as August in Greece.

In the upcoming six-episode series, I, as Edward, grapple with determining the perfect moment to discuss my paternal lineage with my cherished mother.

However, at the perfect instant, suddenly a perilous twist unfolds as Julie’s hazardous history re-emerges, compelling them to abandon the island and evade their pursuers together.

In addition to the main characters, the ensemble includes Gina Gershon, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jack Davenport, Alan Dale, Gerald Kyd, Devon Terrell, Richard Dormer, and David Dencik.

Besides playing lead characters, both Highmore and Hawes will additionally take on the role of executive producers, working alongside Sarah Hammond.

Born in London, England, this individual gained fame as a child actor following his role in the critically-acclaimed film Finding Neverland (2004) alongside Johnny Depp at the age of 11. This was followed by appearances in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Arthur and the Invisibles (2006), August Rush (2007), and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008).

Instead of following the typical trajectory of many child actors who struggle to establish themselves as adults, this London-born individual, now 32 years old, has successfully carved out a career for himself. He gained recognition starring as Norman Bates in the drama-thriller series “Bates Motel” (2013-2017), and more recently in “The Good Doctor” (2017-2024).

Speaking through The Hollywood Reporter, Highmore expressed that portraying Dr. Shaun Murphy has been a profound honor and an incredibly meaningful and satisfying chapter in my life. I will forever be thankful to David, Liz, and Erin, along with the exceptionally gifted and kind cast, writers, and crew who made this show come to life.

Ever since I stumbled upon her work in those captivating literary adaptations like Our Mutual Friend (1998) and Tipping The Velvet (2002), I’ve been hooked! But it was when she brought Zoe Reynolds to life on the small screen in Spooks (2002-2004) that I became truly smitten. And let me tell you, her portrayal of DI Alex Drake in Ashes to Ashes (2008-2010) sealed the deal – this actress is pure magic!

Originating from Paddington, London, England, she’s well-known for her appearances on TV shows such as Line of Duty (from 2014 to 2016) and the BBC One series Bodyguard (in 2018).

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that in my latest acting venture for the big screen, you can find me starring in the captivating biographical drama film titled “Scoop,” set to release in 2024. I’ll be sharing the spotlight with exceptional talents such as Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, and Rufus Sewell. Can’t wait for you all to see it!

Harry and Jack Williams are well-known English siblings primarily recognized for their roles as TV screenwriters and producers. Their notable works encompass “The Disappeared” from 2014 and its derivative series, “Baptiste.”

Following the establishment of Two Brothers Pictures in 2014, they went on to develop and produce the series “Fleabag” from 2016-2019. They subsequently created “Liar,” “Angela Black,” and “The Tourist” which were released respectively in 2021 and 2022.

As of now, Amazon Prime Video hasn’t released any information regarding the release date for The Assassin.
