Freddie Flintoff is scheduled to receive a single, special documentary that explores life following his accident, with the official release date slated for April.
In late 2022, a tragic incident occurred during the filming of Top Gear, which left both the cricketer-cum-presenter and the production team in a state of shock. As a result, filming was halted immediately, and the show was ultimately put on an indefinite hiatus.
Disney+ unveiled a fresh 90-minute documentary titled “Flintoff“, scheduled to debut on April 25. This film has been directed by John Dower, who filmed it over the course of the last year while he was recovering.
The movie will explore the former cricketer’s previous career, while delving into his current life and comeback to cricket after the life-changing car accident he experienced in 2022.
Flintoff expressed that cricket has significantly influenced his identity throughout his life. Reflecting on both the triumphs and hardships, as well as the struggles he’s experienced post-accident, he emphasized how valuable his cricket career has been due to these experiences.

Previously, the cricketing legend shared insights about the lingering emotional impact of the incident, during his introspection on the BBC show titled “Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams“.
As a gamer, I naively believed I could brush off the challenges ahead, hoping to declare my resilience with a casual “I’m good to go!” But the reality has proven far more daunting than anticipated. Regardless of my eagerness to dive back into gaming sessions, I’ve been finding it difficult to do so.

Flintoff mentioned that he experiences both anxiety and distressing dreams and memories, and finds it extremely challenging to manage these feelings.
He went on to acknowledge: “I’ve improved from how I used to be. I’m not sure what ‘perfect’ means, but I am who I am now. I’m changed compared to before, which is something I’ll need to adapt to for the rest of my life, so ‘better’? Not exactly, just different.
Flintoff will stream on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland from April 25.
