Fred Armisen, Riki Lindhome of 'Wednesday' reveal they've been married for two years

As a devoted cinephile who has followed the careers of Fred Armisen and Riki Lindhome for years, I was thrilled to learn about their recent marriage and the unique circumstances surrounding it. Their story is a testament to the unpredictability of life and the power of friendship to blossom into something deeper.

On a recent Wednesday, Fred Armisen and Riki Lindhome announced that they had gotten married two years prior.

A couple who have been friends for over a decade and a half are also the proud parents of a 2-year-old boy named Keaton. Lindhome gave birth to Keaton around two weeks after starting a romantic relationship with Portlandia’s leading man, about 15 years ago.

“According to the actor from ‘Knives Out,’ having a child on your own and then relocating to Romania is not the conventional method for capturing a man’s heart.”

Lindhome, who utilized donated sperm and an egg, considered herself “a single mother with a distant partner” when Keaton arrived in March 2022. At the time of the birth, Armisen was filming overseas and didn’t meet their newborn until he was around three weeks old. Initially, both Lindhome and Armisen felt uneasy about starting a relationship.

In simpler terms, Lindhome expressed, “All I’m asking for is honesty. If it goes against your instincts, that’s not a sign of being wrong. I’m not upset with you. I believe in your abilities and want you to truly understand your feelings. It’s an important decision, so please be truthful about it.” He replied, “I understand, I understand.”

She shared with him her feelings, to which he replied “yes,” creating an immediate bond between them, as if they were family.

In the first season of “Wednesday,” Lindhome portrayed the role of town therapist Dr. Valerie Kinbott, while Armisen appeared as Uncle Fester in the Addams family for the 2022 Netflix series. During the filming in Romania in 2020, Lindhome and Armisen collaborated for two months. The bond between them developed organically during this period. Around two weeks before her son’s birth, Lindhome confessed to Armisen that she had grown to love him deeply.

“Our friendship had lasted for a long time, and suddenly things evolved quickly between us. After just one dinner together, we found ourselves considering the next steps. It took me by surprise, but I believe it came as quite a shock to him, as he hadn’t anticipated this turn of events at all.”

A spokesperson for Armisen did not immediately respond Thursday to The Times’ request for comment.

On June 1, 2022, a random Wednesday afternoon, the couple exchanged vows in a swift courthouse wedding, as described by Lindhome. According to People’s report, they tied the knot in a three-minute ceremony. Lindhome donned a white sundress purchased from Macy’s at Glendale Galleria, while Armisen wore a suit. Unfortunately, their rings didn’t make it in time for the wedding, so they used temporary bands instead. Their small ceremony was attended by their son and a friend who acted as a witness.

The couple didn’t keep it a secret, but they didn’t exactly broadcast the news to everyone, Lindhome explained. After getting married, they enjoyed some ice cream together. A year later, they commemorated their anniversary with a trip to Iceland.

Lindhome shared that she kept her secret wedding a surprise, not revealing it to her mother. She had no desire for a marriage ceremony and considered herself not a “wedding person.” However, they decided on the intimate union because it suited them, and they didn’t want to disappoint people or face pressure to hold a formal event. Instead, they chose to casually announce their nuptials as a surprise.

At next month’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, the “Duncanville” actress will share her journey to becoming a mother through her new musical production titled “Dead Inside.”

It seems that Lindhome has not been married before, while Armisen was formerly hitched to singer Sally Timms from 1998 to 2004 and actress Elisabeth Moss from 2009 to 2011.

For years, news outlets reported on the bitter separation between them. Armisen admitted on The Howard Stern Show in 2013 that their relationship, which ended in failure, was largely his fault, and he referred to himself as an unfaithful spouse.

I had a relationship with Natasha Lyonne, star of “Russian Doll,” from 2014 to 2022. We lived together in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as we both discovered our individual priorities and preferences, we realized that we weren’t compatible and ultimately decided to go our separate ways, which she confirmed in 2022.
