Freaky Friday 2 confirms title and The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto’s character

As a seasoned gamer of life with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the news about Freakier Friday has sent me into a whirlwind of nostalgia. Back in 2003, when Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis first graced our screens in Freaky Friday, I was just starting college, trying to navigate my way through the labyrinth of adulthood. Now, here we are, twenty-two years later, and they’re giving us a sequel!

Freaky Friday 2 has confirmed its official title: Freakier Friday.

At the Disney D23 Expo, acting duo Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis unveiled some exciting news. They revealed pictures of their characters, Anna and Tess, enjoying a ride together in a car, while expressing surprise at another instance of a mother-daughter body transformation.

As a dedicated gamer, diving back into the world of my favorite game series felt just like slipping on an old, familiar pair of gloves. It’s been a while since the last installment, but with the latest release, Anna’s character has taken on a new role – a mother. This fresh twist adds depth to the narrative, making it even more immersive and intriguing. It’s almost as if no time has passed at all, which just goes to show how skillfully the creators have woven this story together.

According to Lohan, working on this film feels less like work and more like an enjoyable, emotional experience. She attributes their return for a second film primarily to Curtis.

In a recent interview, the actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once, Curtis, revealed to the publication that Manny Jacinto, known for his roles in The Good Place and Star Wars: The Acolyte, will portray Anna’s on-screen spouse. However, he didn’t disclose any further details about their characters’ relationship or storyline.

“Manny is lovely, so funny,” she said.

It has been confirmed that Chad Michael Murray reprises his role as Jake, Anna’s romantic interest from the initial movie, indicating a significant presence of him in this upcoming installment.

“Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, is Chad in it,” Curtis teased.

In the original 2003 film, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Lucille Soong, and Rosalind Chao are set to reprise their roles. On the other hand, Julia Butters from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Sophia Hammons from The Social Dilemma, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan from Never Have I Ever have been added to the cast as new characters.

In the gaming world of mine, I eagerly await for the production of Freakier Friday, kicking off in June! By 2025, this intriguing tale will grace our cinema screens. For those who prefer a cozy streaming experience, remember to mark your calendars on Disney+, as Freaky Friday will be waiting there for you!
