Frankie Muniz of ‘Malcom in the Middle’ fame drops out of NASCAR race after falling off ladder

Actor Frankie Muniz, best known for his role in “Malcolm in the Middle,” has temporarily stepped away from racing cars, as of now.

On Instagram on Thursday, the actor shared that he’s currently recuperating from a fractured wrist he sustained when he tumbled off a ladder at his residence.

“The phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these,” he wrote.

The incident occurred during the weekend of Labor Day, preceding the NASCAR race at Darlington Raceway, located in Darlington, South Carolina.

Former “Malcolm in the Middle” actor Frankie Muniz is demonstrating a strong commitment to becoming a professional NASCAR truck series racer. Here’s his motivation behind this new pursuit.

Muniz explained that the unfortunate incident with the ladder occurred while he was attempting to replace batteries in an outdoor surveillance camera in his yard. Although he tried to lighten the mood with humor about the situation, he expressed sadness for having missed the competition.

Nevertheless, Muniz’s NASCAR career still has some miles left. He anticipates making a return to the driver’s seat within just a few more months.

Muniz kicked off his professional racing journey in 2006, following the conclusion of “Malcolm in the Middle.” This decision was inspired by his longstanding love for the sport.

On multiple occasions, Muniz has had to recover from injuries. In a past conversation with People, he admitted that he tends to get injured easily, and sustained as many as 38 bone fractures between the years 2006 and 2017.

Frankie Muniz, known for his role as Malcolm in the Middle, is given the go-ahead once more for his NASCAR career, as he signs up with Reaume Brothers Racing to participate in their Truck Series competition.

At the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship held at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona, Muniz was unfortunately involved in a collision. As per on-site reports by a track journalist, Muniz appeared to be limping and required assistance from medical personnel after being hit hard from behind. Fortunately, it seems that he managed to avoid any serious injuries.

Neither that nor his latest fall are as harrowing as his major crash in 2009.

In the midst of a race, at age 21, his car took a dangerous flip and collided forcefully with a wall. He referred to the accident as quite severe, explaining that it left him with multiple injuries including a broken back, ankle, four ribs, and a hand.

“My thumb was dangling by the skin,” Muniz told People.

Compared to it, his latest tumble off the ladder is merely a minor setback for the former actor-turned-racer. As he’s recuperating, he intends to make a strong comeback in racing, and might just take extra care when using his ladder from now on.

Reminder: don’t disobey the warning on the ladder that says ‘No sitting or standing on top step.’ In retrospect, a taller ladder would have been wiser. Although I’m disappointed about missing the races, I’m thankful things didn’t turn out worse.
