Frankie Bridge’s Hidden Health Crisis: Star Left ‘Wiped Out’ by Debilitating Illness

Frankie Bridge has disclosed that she’s battling a severe illness, which has drained all her energy, as she shared her personal health struggles openly.

On Thursday, the popular Loose Women personality, aged 36, chose to share with her 1.5 million Instagram followers that she’s been dealing with a bout of gastrointestinal illness, commonly known as gastroenteritis.

In the straightforward video, Frankie disclosed that her immune system had been severely weakened due to consecutive bouts with gastroenteritis, a condition characterized by inflammation in the digestive tract.

The performer, clad in a beige t-shirt and track pants, mentioned that she had undergone various tests and was currently taking antibiotics due to a troublesome tooth.

From my cozy kitchen nook, here I am, your beloved fan-girl, finally finding the strength to reach out! It’s been a spell since we last chatted, and I’ve mentioned it before – I’ve been under the weather quite frequently these days. So, let me share some inside scoop with you all about my health journey!

Twice in a row, I’ve experienced bouts of stomach flu, which is unusual for me. These instances have left me feeling drained and quite miserable. My digestive system seems to have taken a significant hit, and it still feels quite vulnerable.

As per the National Health Service (NHS), gastroenteritis typically refers to an inflammation in the stomach and intestines that can be triggered by viruses, germs (bacteria), or tiny organisms (parasites).

Commonly, it presents with issues such as diarrhea, throwing up, queasiness, and abdominal pain, although it may also involve symptoms like fever, exhaustion, and a headache.

Frankie went on to say: “My immune system has been weak, and during this time, I’ve had various tests conducted. As a result, I was unable to consume my daily dose of Symprove.

Apart from these issues, I’ve also been taking antibiotics due to an infected tooth. It seems that my immune system has significantly improved as a result.

The Saturday’s star concluded by telling fans she has since been ‘given the all clear’ by doctors.

Speaking as a lifestyle guide, here’s how I might rephrase that: “I’ve officially moved on and I’m hoping this is permanent, as I’ve been given the green light to resume my regular daily activities. It’s a joy to be back and it feels great to get back into my familiar rhythm.

Back then, as a die-hard follower and admirer, I’ve been reflecting on the heartfelt revelations Frankie shared about her deepest regrets during the peak of her stardom with The Saturdays band.

She rose to fame alongside Rochelle Humes, Una Healy, Mollie King and Vanessa White in 2007.

The band came together following their selection among many aspiring acts on the TV show S Club Search, which led them to open for a popular pop group.

Instead, she shared on The Savoy Originals podcast that she wasn’t fond of every single they released at their peak of popularity.

She mentioned: ‘Regardless of your preference, that particular song was going to be released, whether you enjoyed it or not.’

In simpler terms, there are certain songs I don’t enjoy and haven’t internalized, yet I must continue to endorse them, claim they are exceptional, and perform them on television, regardless of my personal feelings about them.

‘And that’s fine because some of them you like and some of them you don’t.’

The former popstar-turned-television personality further disclosed that, despite their band’s remarkable achievements, she hadn’t accrued sufficient wealth to retire.

The mother of two shared earlier that she often felt as if she was two distinct individuals during her time in the group, needing to put on her social mask when out with the band.

On the “So Wrong, It’s Right” podcast featuring Olivia Attwood, Frankie opened up about experiencing anxiety since her fame began at a tender age as part of the S Club Juniors band.

Frankie mentioned: “I didn’t attend a traditional school; instead, we did home-schooling while traveling. My sense of time gets jumbled sometimes, but I remember it was around age 15 when the S Club Juniors disbanded and the Saturdays formed, with me joining at age 17.

‘So, it was a little gap and I had a couple of like normal jobs in between.’

She expressed the thought: ‘It seems that once an individual stops producing popular music or appearing on television, there’s a general perception that they’ve failed, regardless of their previous success.’

‘I always had stomach aches. Can you remember Pepto Bismol, the medicine, the pink horrible stuff?

‘That would be in my bag every day because I always had a funny tummy, like nervous stomach.

At night, I found it difficult to breathe normally and experienced similar issues. I believe now that anxiety may have been present, although at the time, I wasn’t aware of it.

She went on to say, “Regularly, I underwent blood tests, among other things. Nothing was found, as you might guess, and the situation isn’t like it is now.

‘But I for me, the first time I realized that it was a proper issue was actually in the Saturdays.

For a while, I seemed to arrive home from work, head directly to bed without dinner, yearning only for sleep, feeling like crying, eventually drifting off.

The bed served as my sanctuary, though I didn’t recognize its boundary-crossing nature at the time. It wasn’t until our tour when we would have pre-show meet and greets that I recall standing outside the door, taking a moment to compose myself.

Taking a deep breath and thinking, right, be Frankie from the Saturdays.’
