Frail Danny Trejo, 81, finally breaks silence on health fears after star was spotted in wheelchair amid death hoax

Danny Trejo recently spoke out about his health after photos of him in a wheelchair led to false rumors about his death.

Danny Trejo, the 81-year-old actor and former convict, appeared delicate as he entered his Hollywood restaurant, Trejo’s Cantina, on Saturday night.

While watching the Dodgers play the Blue Jays in Game 2 of the World Series, he was asked by TMZ how he was doing. He responded with a simple, ‘Everything is beautiful.’

Danny Trejo immediately began promoting the second season of his History Channel show, Mysteries Unearthed, while speaking.

Oh my gosh, you guys, he told me! He’s going to be on the History Channel! He was so excited, he just had to tell someone, and I was lucky enough to be that person! He’s preparing right now, and said we’ll see him on there this month! I’m seriously losing it, this is HUGE!

It was really worrying to see him looking so frail just days ago, especially after all the fuss just weeks before when people started saying he’d sadly passed away. There were rumors of a stroke, which he had to quickly deny, and now this… it’s been a really stressful time as a fan.

People were worried when Danny Trejo was wheeled through a Toronto airport terminal, with his son Gilbert, 37, by his side.

The Spy Kids star cut a dapper figure in a black suit and fedora as he chatted with his son.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by how people stay active, and it’s inspiring to see Danny Trejo maintaining his incredible energy! I learned last week from his representative that he recently had a knee replacement. It just goes to show you can overcome challenges and keep going strong, no matter your age!

A false report from Polonia News on August 19th led to rumors of Danny Trejo’s death last month. Actor John Leguizamo initially shared the news on Instagram with a ‘R.I.P.’ post, contributing to the hoax.

Danny Trejo, who has 13.3 million followers on social media, assured everyone he’s doing well, responding to concerns with a post on Instagram saying he is very much alive.

‘Someone is spreading fake news.’

It’s been 22 years since Danny Trejo appeared as a guest on an episode of the Nickelodeon show, The Brothers García, which starred the Emmy-winning actor who is now 65 years old.

It was a lucky coincidence that the Echo Park local and John were both recognized at the 40th annual Imagen Awards on August 22nd in Beverly Hills. The awards show, which celebrates Latino representation, will be broadcast on PBS on October 1st.

Danny’s series, Mysteries Unearthed on the History Channel, took home the award for best variety or reality show. John Leguizamo won best actor for his performance in the film Bob Trevino Likes It, but he wasn’t present at the ceremony.

Danny Trejo recently held a meet-and-greet and concert for his record label, Trejo’s Music, at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles on August 30th.

The day before, the actor from Big City Greens joined screenwriter Álvaro Rodríguez for a special 15th-anniversary showing of the movie Machete at the Vidiots cinema in Los Angeles.

After a difficult past that included time in prisons such as San Quentin, Folsom, and Soledad, Danny celebrated 57 years of sobriety on August 23rd – a truly remarkable achievement.

Trejo shared with People magazine last year that he feels incredibly grateful to still be alive, considering the difficult circumstances he faced growing up in the 1960s.

I went through a really difficult period, and people didn’t expect me to recover. Now, I feel like my life is guided by a higher power and unfolding as it should.

The successful restaurant owner went on to say, ‘People often ask me if I ever thought I’d leave prison, and the answer is no. The last thing the parole board told me in 1969 was, “We want you back for life. We’ve had enough of you.”

‘I never went back. I mean, every day, every day for me is just a blessing.’

Danny Trejo is currently starring as Jimmy, a character who carries a gun, in the new crime thriller Wages of Sin. The film, which deals with the fentanyl crisis, became available to stream on Amazon Prime Video last Friday.

I’m so excited to share that Danny will be making an appearance at Silver Scream Con, the fourth annual horror convention, in Worcester, Massachusetts, from September 12th to 14th! It’s going to be a fantastic event for any horror fan, and I know he’s really looking forward to connecting with everyone there.

On May 31st, Danny Trejo finished filming a secret part in the independent film Choir Practice, directed by Sally Shamrell, in Tucson, Arizona.

And the four-time divorcé has no less than 24 other upcoming acting projects in the works.

Danny benefited from having a family connection in show business – he was related to Robert Rodriguez, a filmmaker who had already won an Independent Spirit Award.

Danny Trejo has three children: Danny Jr., age 44; Gilbert, 37; and Danielle, 35. He shares them with Diana Walton and Maeve Crommie, from whom he separated in 1983 and 1997, respectively.
