Fox still hasn't confirmed 911: Lone Star Season 5 is the last, but we're ready for it

As a long-time fan of the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster that is 911: Lone Star, I must confess that the whispers of its impending demise have left me with a heavy heart. Ever since the rumors started circulating back in June 2024, I’ve been on tenterhooks, fearing for the fate of my beloved characters and their captivating stories.

It’s often apparent when your beloved series might be concluding, and it appears that 911: Lone Star could very well be reaching its finale.

Speculation about the show concluding has been circulating since as far back as June 2024. The media outlet Deadline hinted at its potential demise, which sparked concerns among fans about how they might bring a satisfying end to the storylines for their beloved characters.

It wasn’t made better by the fact that the possible termination of the show was announced alongside the news of Sierra McClain leaving the series for good. This revelation has left fans stunned and disappointed since it means that Grace, arguably the most beloved character across the entire series, will no longer be a part of the fifth season.

Cast options came to an end before production on 911: Lone Star Season 5 wrapped

Some speculation about the potential cancellation arose due to the fact that many actor contracts expired before the production of 911: Lone Star Season 5 concluded in July. These agreements weren’t set to be renewed until later, which might have hinted at preparations for some cast members to leave. Such departures could have significantly altered the series, potentially leading to its cancellation.

At that particular time, it was certain that Rob Lowe would be the sole cast member to reappear. This was because of his first-look agreement with Fox and the role he plays as an executive producer for the show.

After that point, there’s been no update on the situation. It remains unclear whether the show has been cancelled or if the cast contracts have been renewed. The only information we have is that some cast members hinted at the storyline wrapping up soon. Rob Lowe, for instance, mentioned it as potentially marking the end of an era, which might suggest not just a shift in broadcast television, but also the conclusion of the Texas-based first responder series.

We’re eagerly anticipating the conclusion of 911: Lone Star. With all the buzz surrounding it, we can’t help but feel a sense of readiness. Yet, we can’t deny our hope for more episodes in this compelling series.

911: Lone Star Season 5 premieres on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on Fox.
