Fox News taps Will Cain to replace Neil Cavuto as daily afternoon host

Fox & Friends Weekend co-host and ex-ESPN personality, Will Cain, will be stepping into the afternoon slot on Fox News previously occupied by Neil Cavuto.

Starting January 27th, it’s official that “The Will Cain Show” will make its debut, as announced by Fox News on Monday. Previously a business journalist with Fox News since its inception in 1996, Cavuto aired his final show on Dec. 19th, as he declined to accept a new contract offering a lower salary.

59-year-old Cain, known for his conservative perspectives, previously served as an analyst and host at CNN, and also at the right-leaning network, the Blaze.

On his well-known show, Cavuto was often seen presenting contrasting views to Republican arguments, a stance that occasionally sparked displeasure among some Fox News viewers as well as President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump rejoiced over Cavuto’s departure in a post on Truth Social, stating “GREAT NEWS FOR THE USA! Neil Cavuto, who has the lowest ratings among anchors at Fox, decided to leave – it was about time!

During the initial 100 days of the second Trump presidency, Maddow will serve as the nightly host. Starting on May 1, Alex Wagner comes back to cover that time slot.

Currently, Cain is hosting a daily podcast that serves as a blueprint for his upcoming Fox News show, scheduled to air at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. Being a resident of Texas, he will continue to live there while hosting the program.

Previously, Cain served as a radio host on ESPN and a regular contributor to their flagship talk show “First Take.” In 2020, he moved over to Fox News, where he co-hosted the weekend edition of “Fox & Friends” alongside Rachel Campos-Duffy and Pete Hegseth. However, Hegseth departed from the program in November following his nomination by Trump for the position of Secretary of Defense.

For the last four years, it’s been a privilege to start my day with America. I’m excited to use my expertise in news, law, entertainment, and business to provide insightful commentary and analysis on current events, making complex headlines easier to understand for our viewers each weekday afternoon,” Cain stated.

Fox News announced that commentator Charlie Hurt is set to take on the role as co-host for “Fox & Friends Weekend”. Currently contributing to Fox News, Hurt is leaving his position as opinion editor at The Washington Times to become a full-time employee with the network.
