Found season 2 is taking a lengthy break, but we know when it will return

As a die-hard fan who has weathered countless winter breaks with my favorite shows, I can confidently say that the return of Found season 2 is like a beacon of light amidst the dark, frosty nights. The news that it will grace our screens once again on January 16, 2025, feels like a triumphant victory after what seems like an eternity of waiting.

During this season, we’re experiencing a pause in our beloved shows due to their winter hiatuses. As for “Stranger Things” season 2, it’s currently on a prolonged break, leaving fans wondering about its comeback date.

We’re not getting into spoilers from the Found season 2 fall finale. It only aired last night, Thursday, Nov. 21, so not everyone will have had a chance to watch that yet. We’ll have plenty of fallout coverage coming soon for the fall finale.

Currently, let’s zero in on the intermission. It’s rather prolonged, though not extraordinarily so for typical television programming.

When will Found season 2 return with new episodes?

The episode you just watched was the final one for this year, specifically from 2024. Excitingly, the second season of ‘Found’ is set to resume in January 2025. NBC has marked the calendar for Thursday, 16th of January. Interestingly, both ‘Law & Order’ series will make their comeback on the same night, ensuring that our weekly crime-filled Thursdays continue!

This pause is completely typical, but it may not appear that way given the unusual circumstances of the past few years. The pandemic followed by labor strikes in 2023 disrupted TV programming significantly, causing a shift from the usual schedules. So, we’re returning to a schedule similar to the one used during the 2019-2020 period before the pandemic took effect.

During this winter hiatus, three key aspects are accommodated. Primarily, it offers our dedicated cast and crew a well-deserved rest period. Despite starting the filming of the first episodes for January and beyond, there’s still a substantial amount of work left to do. This break provides an opportunity for the cast to rejuvenate before diving back into the filming process again.

Another key aspect is scheduling pauses. Since there’s a finite number of episodes, they need to be distributed over a nine-month period. Therefore, it’s necessary to have some breaks in the schedule, and having an extended winter break seems quite logical.

A third important step is preserving the linear ratings. During the festive season, these ratings tend to decline. Instead of jeopardizing the show’s future, broadcasters like NBC choose to take a break during this period and resume airing episodes in January when people have ended their holiday activities and are indoors enjoying their homes amidst the winter chill.

Found season 2 will return on Thursday, Jan 16 at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up on the series on Peacock.
