Found season 2, episode 7 recap and review: “Missing While Hated”
As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless narratives and plots in various games, I must say that Found season 2, episode 7 left me with a bittersweet taste, much like a level boss fight that’s both challenging and rewarding at the same time.
In the second season of “Found,” episode 7, it falls upon the Mergers and Acquisitions team to unravel the mystery surrounding a journalist who identifies as non-binary and has vanished. Yet, there’s plenty more intrigue that unfolds in the final moments of the show.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Found season 2, episode 7.
This case turns out to be rather straightforward. The scenario unfolds when a man approaches Gabi and her team seeking assistance, prompting them to delve into the investigation. As it transpires, this case is connected to a tale someone tried to keep hidden.
This tale, given its relevance, ought to have played a more significant role in the grand scheme of things. Instead, it appeared to take up only a minor portion of the episode. The narrative primarily revolves around the different members of the Mergers and Acquisitions team, which is unfortunate. I truly hope that this subplot could have been expanded for a larger impact within the episode, as its significance cannot be overstated at this point in time.
Gabi’s past further explored in Found
So far in “Found” season 2, the flashbacks have primarily revolved around Lacey/Bella’s storyline. We’ve been privy to her experiences after being taken by Sir, and we’ve also learned that Bella served as a key conduit for Sir to reconnect with Gabi.
Instead, this episode shifted the spotlight onto Gabi. It presented an opportunity for us to witness her preparations as she honored her mother’s memory once more. This was a ritual she had skipped the previous year, preferring not to disclose its significance to Sir. This glimpse into the past showcases how perceptive and in sync with Sir she was at that time.
Despite everything going smoothly, there’s a hitch. Her father unexpectedly arrives, intending to depart. He’s under the influence of alcohol, evidently unaware of the significance of the day. This is where the growing distance between Gabi and her father becomes apparent, and it also explains why Bella and Gabi became inseparable. Gabi’s mother extends an offer for Gabi to stay with them when her father requires rehabilitation. I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t react aggressively again at that moment. This aspect needs further examination.
Gabi gets the M&A Team to work alone in Found season 2, episode 7
In this episode, there was a significant shift as Gabi decided to step aside. She understands that her fate leads to incarceration, and she’s preparing herself for it. However, she also wants to ensure that her team can handle this transition smoothly. But what seems most crucial is that the firm is well-prepared for her absence.
Gabi emphasizes that they should learn to handle cases independently, as this will be crucial for them in the future if they wish to continue assisting people. She can’t offer help from within the system—though she might be able to do so, it wouldn’t be in the same capacity as now. Gabi is concerned about ensuring that her child is cared for properly.
It’s evident that Dahn often has to prioritize her M&A team over her personal life, as she frequently cancels on her husband Ethan when he brings lunch to the firm. This situation seems to breed resentment in Ethan towards Gabi, but it’s unfair for him to feel this way since it’s not Gabi’s responsibility that Dahn forgets about Ethan.
This is something Ethan and Dahn need to discuss. As a therapist, you would have thought that Ethan would know that communication with Dahn is the only way forward. Of course, Dahn needs to be willing to listen. Maybe that’s what Gabi can get him to do!
Zeke gets on the wrong side of the law
At last, I get to witness Zeke devise a solution for Margaret’s predicament. Since she can’t make it to the bus stop, he ingeniously manages to transport the bus shelter right to her doorstep. It seems like a heartwarming resolution, but it only leads to another snag. As it turns out, the connection goes haywire.
At Zeke’s residence, we discover that the authorities have arrived and are disassembling all possessions. Swiftly, Lacey snatches a mobile phone, yet this only represents a minor aspect of Zeke’s arrangement.
Hold on, why are the police here for the surveillance at the bus station? Not because of the cameras, no! It’s connected to something that happened earlier in the episode. Zekes decided to breach the police database, and given that the police would have measures in place to detect unauthorized access, was it really unexpected that Trent and the officers were aware of this activity?
In this episode, I’m quite taken by Trent’s indignation. It’s clear he can hardly fathom that Zeke could be so reckless to perform such an action. Granted, I get why he did it, but still, how on earth could Zeke have been so careless as to get caught? This blunder seems destined to create significant problems for both Zeke and the M&A team collectively. Could Sir be gaining the upper hand?
