Found season 2, episode 3 recap and review: “Missing While Lonely”

Found season 2, episode 3 recap and review: "Missing While Lonely"

As a long-time fan of the M&A team, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as I watch each new episode unfold. With every case they take on, it becomes increasingly clear that their strength lies not just in their individual abilities, but in their unity and camaraderie.

The second season’s third episode of ‘Found’ began by continuing the narrative from where it ended last time, and then transported us back 36 hours into the past. Let’s delve into all the events that unfolded in this installment.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Found season 2, episode 3

I generally dislike episodes that start off by revealing the ending, as it tends to spoil things. However, season 2, episode 3 of Found pulled it off effectively. In this instance, we found Trent with a black eye and tears in his eyes, delivering an update on the Sir/Lacey situation. This scene truly made us concerned for everyone involved.

In addition, their encounter between Sir and Gabi was unexpectedly involved in the situation. Dahn hastily entered Gabi’s residence to discover a message, and at that moment, we were only aware that Gabi had willingly sought out Sir. However, could it be too late for Lacey?

Jumping to 36 hours earlier in Found season 2, episode 3

In the narrative that unfolds, I found myself transported 36 hours back in time, delving into the life of Sir’s brother, Christian. It’s evident that Christian harbors faith in his sibling’s goodness. After all, who else but Sir could have rescued him from the flames and attempted to save their mother? Yet, if only Christian were privy to the truth. Alas, he discovers the truth within the episode itself, but altering his perspective proves a daunting task. How could his brother, whom he believed to be a savior, take the life of their mother?

Christian’s actions have led Sir to become more aggressive. Gabi realizes she must re-establish contact with Sir, but he has destroyed the public phone. He will reach out when he chooses, and Gabi must devise a strategy to lure him back into conversation.

The most effective approach is by handling a fresh situation. This particular situation involves an elderly woman who has gone missing and was set to marry a prison inmate. There’s an interesting dialogue between Trent and Gabi. Trent often views the world in stark terms. He considers anyone who violates the law as a criminal, plain and simple. Past actions do not grant them permission to disregard the law.

Instead of directly avenging, the inmate ended up reacting violently, a result not typically expected from him. The mind, although robust, is also delicate. This inmate had reached his breaking point following the tragic death of his daughter in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. Unbeknownst to him, the man’s wife was also in the vehicle at the time. He hadn’t intended to harm her and has since carried a burden of guilt for her unintentional demise.

This man’s situation shares some similarities with Gabi’s, as they both found themselves pushed to the edge in order to protect themselves and others. In her case, this led to an action that, while questionable, was understood by many due to the circumstances. It certainly adds an element of intrigue and drama to the storyline.

In the case at hand, Sir is becoming increasingly involved. This isn’t unexpected, but Gabi senses that Sir is losing his composure. While this could pose a risk, it also provides Gabi with valuable insights about Sir, which she needs to find Lacey. Sometimes, Gabi can tell when Sir makes a mistake, and when he starts talking about the elderly woman and her imprisoned lover as a contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet, Gabi understands that it’s actually the lawyer who has abducted her. Solving this case quickly is not surprising because this aspect wasn’t central to the narrative.

Margaret, Zeke, and Dahn help figure out where Lacey is

Working collaboratively, as seen in this episode, demonstrates that the M&A team is more powerful united than working individually. Each member brings unique talents and capabilities to the table.

In the given episode, Margaret’s “Margaret Vision” resurfaces, a phenomenon that only occurs when Gabi isn’t present. Given her current sentiments towards Gabi, this isn’t too unexpected. Yet, Margaret recognizes that her vision hasn’t vanished, and by assisting others, she becomes more convinced that she must continue her efforts.

Apart from Gabi’s request, Zeke voluntarily assists in locating the elderly woman. Currently, he isn’t inclined to help Gabi, but his desire to aid people overrides this feeling. It seems that a pivotal moment is occurring for him as he recognizes that despite his current feelings towards Gabi, the M&A team’s important work takes precedence.

In the house where Lacey had been staying under Sir’s care, two individuals, along with Dahn, discovered a shattered credit card. Margaret managed to assemble the fragments correctly, and then Zeke ran the card number. By examining the recent transactions, Gabi was able to piece together all the details. She now knows where Lacey currently is.

Gabi lies to the team again in Found

Gabi appears to be excelling at moving her team away from herself, which she believes is the correct action. She pens a note to Dahn and the rest, expressing regret for deceiving them. You understand that when she uncovered Sir’s book purchases, she led them to believe Lacey no longer had time, but in reality, this isn’t so.

Gabi understood where Sir was hiding. He desired for her to locate him, but only if she did so independently, or else Lacey’s life would be at risk. However, she did inform the others about Lacey’s location in a written message.

It’s during this meeting between Sir and Gabi when things don’t go as planned. While Gabi is prepared to surrender herself to him, an unexpected turn of events takes place. Lacey, who had been unconscious, suddenly awakens and stabs Sir in a surprise attack from behind. As Gabi tries to dissuade Lacey from attacking again, the latter becomes aggressive. However, she collapses before launching another assault.

The episode resumes here, with Trent – who sustained his black eye during the case of the missing woman – disclosing that things didn’t go as planned. Lacey has been located, but she’s in a critical state. Margaret entered the room shortly after Dan and Gabi, carrying Lacey on a stretcher.

At the very end of the episode, we have some hope. Lacey twitches as Gabi holds her hand.

But where is Sir? That’s a question for Found season 2, episode 4.

In summary, the episode effectively built suspense by first revealing the future, then leading us through the events that led up to it. It instilled hope in the audience that Lacey would be found, but also concern about who might require medical attention. Additionally, it subtly suggested that the M&A team could overcome this challenge, given Lacey’s discovery. Margaret and Zeke understand their responsibility to help others, and they might come to see that Gabi made mistakes, albeit ones driven by her personal trauma. It’s crucial for everyone to remember that Gabi is not infallible; she’s a flawed character who has been unjustly elevated.
