Epic Games has revealed that the highly anticipated battle royale game Fortnite, initially scheduled for release in the U.S. last week, will be postponed again. The creators of the game have disclosed that their submission for Fortnite on Apple’s platform has been halted, but they haven’t provided any reasons behind this decision.
Fortnite will not return on iOS until Apple changes its stance
Consequently, Fortnite has been taken out of service across the EU and will stay inaccessible worldwide on iOS devices. Epic Games has declared that it won’t become active again until Apple modifies its position regarding app distribution and system policies, thus prolonging the ongoing dispute between the two corporations.
Unfortunately, Apple has prevented us from submitting Fortnite to both the U.S. App Store and the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Consequently, Fortnite on iOS is currently unavailable globally as we wait for Apple to lift this blockade.

Initially, it was anticipated that Fortnite would be reinstated on the App Store in the United States during the second week of May 2025, following CEO Tim Sweeney’s statement. However, surprisingly, the game hasn’t made its comeback as expected, given it had been banned since 2021.
In August 2024, Fortnite was reintroduced across Android and iOS platforms within the Epic Games Store by Epic themselves, utilizing the regulations introduced under the Digital Markets Act in the EU. This action followed Epic’s initial dispute with Apple’s internal purchase system that demanded a 30% fee.
After the court rulings disfavoring Apple’s high fee, the dispute persists. Despite Epic’s legal victories, they still encounter hurdles in reinstating Fortnite on iOS. Neither Apple nor Epic Games have provided reasons for denying Fortnite’s submission to the iOS platform.

Currently, Fortnite enthusiasts can continue enjoying the game across various platforms such as PC, consoles, Android via Epic Games Store, and cloud services. However, users on iOS devices are temporarily unable to play due to ongoing negotiations between the companies involved. They’ll need to wait for a resolution before they can resume their gaming sessions.
