Formula 1: 3 candidates to be the next young Red Bull driver
As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the virtual race tracks of Grand Prix Legends and F1 2019, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as Yuki Tsunoda’s time with Red Bull might be coming to an end. The Formula 1 world is like a complex RPG game, where drivers rise through the ranks based on their skill and performance, much like a character leveling up after a hard-fought boss battle.
It seems that Yuki Tsunoda’s tenure with the Red Bull racing family might end shortly, as speculation points towards him not being offered a spot on the main team for the 2025 season.
As I approach the milestone of my 24th year, I find myself standing on the starting grid of the 2025 Formula 1 season, knowing that this contract of mine is about to hit the checkered flag. With the wind of change blowing through Red Bull and Honda’s partnership nearing its finish line, I can’t help but feel a sense of uncertainty about where my racing journey may take me next. The track ahead is long, but I am ready to navigate it, seeking new opportunities and challenges that lie beyond the horizon.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed that when it comes to selecting drivers for their main and satellite teams, Red Bull tends to stick with their in-house talents. Over the years, they’ve nurtured some truly exceptional racers, like Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen, Alex Albon, and Pierre Gasly, right from their ranks.
At present, Red Bull boasts over ten drivers within their junior squad, all aiming to ascend the racing ladder. As we approach the 2026 Formula 1 season, a vacant seat at RB could serve as an additional incentive for these Red Bull Formula 2 drivers in the year ahead.
Three Red Bull drivers to battle it out in 2025
The upcoming season in Formula 2 promises an intense competition among three rising stars from Red Bull’s junior driver program. Currently, Pepe Marti is tipped to secure a place at Red Bull for 2026, given that Oliver Goethe and Arvid Lindblad are both poised to make their full-time debuts in the series.
Marti ended the 2024 season triumphantly, claiming his inaugural career win in Formula 2 during the Abu Dhabi sprint race. Remarkably, this success also denoted his initial double-points weekend since the season’s kickoff at Bahrain.
As a gamer, I may not have the best odds stacked against me for next year’s success, but hey, who knows? Despite not having a long list of top-tier victories under my belt, there was that one shining moment in 2022 when I claimed the Euroformula Open Championship. So, while expectations might be low, I’m ready to surprise a few people and make a mark next season!
Contrarily, Lindblad stands as a strong candidate for an RB seat in 2026, even at just 17 years of age. His impressive karting career has seamlessly transitioned into his single-seater journey.
In his debut season of Formula 3 racing in 2024, he achieved an impressive fourth place overall, securing four victories along the way. This outstanding performance earned him a well-deserved promotion to Formula 2. His talent has not gone unnoticed, as prominent figures within the sport, including Helmut Marko, have expressed admiration for this British driver.
Red Bull finds themselves advantageously positioned, as a contest among some of their promising young racers may decide who will pilot for RB in 2026. Keep an eye on Pepe Marti, Oliver Goethe, and Arvid Lindblad – the top three drivers to focus on in 2025.
