As a seasoned gamer who’s witnessed the highs and lows of Formula 1 over the past decade, I can confidently say that the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is shaping up to be a thrilling race! The track has been Max Verstappen’s playground, with his dominance there being unmatched by any other circuit.
This upcoming Sunday, I’m gearing up for race number two out of three in a tripleheader series. This epic event is set to unfold at the legendary Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, which happens to be part of the history-making 2024 Formula 1 schedule with an impressive total of 24 races.
The upcoming Mexico City car race, often referred to as the Mexican Grand Prix, is planned as a 71-lap event on the winding, 17-turn, 2.674-mile (4.303-kilometer) racetrack situated in Mexico City, Mexico.
Among all tracks, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez stands out as one of Max Verstappen’s most victorious venues. The Red Bull racer claimed two wins here prior to his inaugural world championship triumph in 2021, and he won again during that season and in the subsequent years leading up to 2023, earning him multiple titles. It is notable that he has not achieved more than five victories at any other track.
It’s worth noting that out of the five victories, just one was achieved when starting from pole position. The last time Verstappen started from pole and went on to win was in 2021, which is the only such occurrence since 2018. Keep in mind that Formula 1 did not hold a race in Mexico during the year 2020.
At the racetrack, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are the only drivers who have won races since it reappeared on the calendar in 2015, marking a gap of 23 years. In 2015, Rosberg secured his victory from the pole position, while Hamilton did so from the pole in 2016 and from third place in 2019.
