With deep regret, we share the news that Eddie Jordan OBE, a former Formula 1 team owner, TV commentator, and businessman, has sadly passed away. This occurred peacefully, with loved ones by his side, in Cape Town during the early morning hours of March 20, 2025.
The entrepreneur from Ireland established and ran Jordan Grand Prix, a Formula One construction team, between 1991 and 2005 at Silverstone.
Afterwards, he became the main analyst for Formula 1 broadcasts at the BBC from 2009 to 2015, then shifted to Channel 4.
The statement went on to say that he worked tirelessly right up until then, as he had shared his aspirations for the London Irish Rugby Football Club on Saint Patrick’s Day. It was mentioned earlier that he had assumed the role of patron for this club.
Eddie and Jordan Grand Prix were recognized for their rock-and-roll vibe, adding an entertaining and thrilling touch to Formula 1 (F1). They often exceeded expectations in terms of performance. Many F1 drivers credit Eddie with launching their careers, and champions like Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill raced under his banner.
Everywhere EJ went, he radiated charisma, enthusiasm, and the unique charm of Ireland. His absence has left a massive void among us. Though we’ll deeply miss him, his numerous cherished memories will help us smile as we cope with our sadness.
